3.5 smut-tastic stars!

I’m a sucker for a billionaire story. Add in a marriage of convenience, a strong-yet-naive heroine, a controlling alpha hero and a whole heap of steamy time and I was sold!

Holly is a rising country star who is devoted to her career but who has been locked into a soul-sucking contract with her record producer. She goes along with their wild demands so as not to ruin her one big shot, but she is desperately searching for a way out. Creighton is a successful businessman and billionaire who can (and does) take anything and everything that he wants.

I See.
I Want.
I Conquer.
I Keep.

A random encounter in a bar while both of them are on the prowl one night leads to a night of blisteringly hot sexcapades, but Holly is gone in the morning without giving Creighton her name or contact details. So what is a sexually smitten billionaire to do? Used to getting his way and refusing to believe that his secret woman will be able to resist, he puts out a ‘missed connections’ ad, proposing marriage to the woman who rocked his world. Desperate for help, and for another taste of the best sex of her life, Holly makes contact.

OK, so I’m going to stay straight off that you’ll need to suspend reality while you’re reading this one. It’s not exactly a realistic set up (and if you’re looking for love, hearts and swoony declarations, look elsewhere), but it’s fun and it’s interesting, and it’s all kids of intense with the smut.

I’m going to own this woman – body, heart and fucking soul.

The sexual attraction between these two characters is sizzling, and that translates into scene after scene of scorching sexy time. Creighton is a dominant lover with a filthy mouth and even filthier moves, and though Holly is a strong character, they discover that she is submissive in the bedroom, and that works for both of them in so many ways.

“Do you want to know what I do to naughty girls?” She nods. “Anything I want.”

I actually really liked Creighton. He is alpha all the way, and he’s ridiculously cocky and arrogant, but he totally owns it and somehow it works for him. His caveman possessiveness over Holly and his general sense of entitlement is nothing short of outrageous, but for the kind of story that this is, I could just sit back and enjoy his behaviour as highly entertaining.

Get me a phone with a never-ending battery life and I could do my business right here, while I give her the business.

His behaviour is balanced nicely by Holly’s independent streak and there’s some fun banter, a WHOLE lot of sexy time and a few moments of emotional openness between them. But at this point they’re both existing in a lust fog and aren’t really capable of anything beyond that. But the stage is set for a deeper connection to form, and (despite the bizarrely drama-queen moment at the end there) I’m looking forward to continuing on with the story.

3.5 stars – I really enjoyed this one.
