SO SWEET
SO FUNNY
SO FREAKING HOT!
SOOOO FREAKING SWOONY!

Such a fantastic read, I loved it!

This is book 5 in the Quantum series, but as an inter-connected standalone, it can easily be read on its own. I have read each of the books in this series, and absolutely love the mix of strong heroines, dirty-mouthed heroes, intense romance and emotion, and super-steamy sex with a side of kink. These books are a great read and this one is a definite favourite!

This is the story of Ellie Godfrey. She is the older sister of superstar actor Flynn (hero of books 1-3 in the series), and she works in the production company that is run by him and his group of best friends. Jasper Autrey is the award-winning cinematographer of the group – dangerously sexy, a bit of a manwhore and with a to-die-for English accent, he has starred in Ellie’s fantasies more than once. But she is at a stage in her life where she wants to settle down, and more than anything she wants a baby. She is planning to visit a sperm bank and get things happening all on her own, but when she shares her plans with Jasper, as the true friend that he is, he offers to step in and assist – as long as they go about things the old fashioned way. Knowing that Jasper isn’t interested in a relationship, and desperate to see her dream realised, she realises his plan is perfect – she gets the chance to have a child of her own, knowing that Jasper will be able to keep things emotionless, and she gets to experience him in the way she’s always dreamed of.

Unbeknownst to Ellie, Jasper has always wanted the opportunity to get his hands on her, so his offer isn’t purely selfless. He figures they’ll get to explore the attraction that has always simmered between them, that he can control his Dom needs while they’re together, and then once the deed is done, he’ll leave. But he does have a condition of his own – he likes control in the bedroom and he needs Ellie to hand that over to him before he agrees to anything.

“I own your pleasure, sweet Ellie. You come when I say you can, understood?”

Oh. Holy. God. The hotness between these two is off the freaking charts! The chemistry between them literally leaps off the pages and the sexy time is kindle-meltingly steamy. The sex is plentiful and descriptive without being OTT, and the feelings that Ellie and Jasper have for each make it all the more intense.

I collapse onto the bed, a quivering wreck of a woman who used to have control over her life, until she let a sexy, charming Brit into her bed and found out what it’s like to completely lose control.

Ellie and Jasper experience the best sex of their lives together and, surprised by the intensity of their connection, their business arrangement soon becomes anything but. Keen to explore what is becoming her sexual awakening, Ellie asks Jasper for more and he gladly shows her his world of kink (more hotness).

“When you first told me you wanted a baby, all I could think about was having the chance to finally touch you. But now, there’s so many other things I want to do with you besides make a baby.”
“You want to do this stuff with me?”
“Hell, yes. I want to do everything with you.”

But more importantly, the friendship they have always shared very quickly shifts into something more.

“Do you ever think that it’s weird the way this has happened sort of all of a sudden between us?
He stands and comes to me, placing his hands on my hips and resting his forehead on mine. “It’s hardly all of a sudden, darling. For quite some time now, if you’re in the room, I’ve found it difficult to look anywhere but where you are.”

I loved the development of this relationship! Their arrangement isn’t cold and clinical in any way, it’s sweet and comfortable as they spend time together and open up to each other, and their crazy physical connection leads them to an intimacy that neither of them have experienced before. It’s a natural and easy progression, and I fell right along with them. But for Jasper, the future that he wants with Ellie seems impossible because of a secret he’s been keeping from everybody who knows him – a secret that denies him everything that he’s coming to realise that he wants.

“I’ve never wanted anything more than I want to be free to love you, Ellie.”

OMG, this book is a swoonfest! Despite the secret that he is keeping, Jasper is open about his feelings, and the heartfelt pleas and romantic declarations had me melting into a puddle of goo on the floor. His reasons for holding back are understandable and completely justified, and I could feel his torment over the whole situation. But he never expected the woman he has fallen for to fight for him and give him the strength to fight for the life he wants once and for all.

She’s the answer to every question I’ve ever had about who I am and where I belong. I belong here with her.

It all plays out beautifully, and the involvement of the rest of the Quantum crew just make it better. All of the characters from the previous books are a part of the unfolding drama, and I loved the chance to catch up with them. There is continuation for the previous couples, and hints at romance to come (Kristian… squee!), but mostly I just enjoyed the dynamic of the group, the camaraderie between them and the unconditional love and support they give to each other. That, and the almost constant banter and teasing which adds a great lightness to the story.

“He calls you dahhling,” Leah says, fanning her face. “How do you not spontaneously come every time he says that?”

I loved this book. It hooked me from the very start and I read it in one sitting, unable to put it down. I fell in love with Ellie and Jasper, and their story, and I was happily swept away by the romance, passion, intensity and emotion between them. The different elements are blended really well and the sexy time, kink, romance and drama all complement each other nicely without any one of them overwhelming the other. It creates a beautiful story that appealed to the hopeless romantic in me, as well as the dirty perve.

“I love you desperately, Ellie. I suspect that I have for quite some time, long before I knew what it was like to hold you and kiss you and make love to you. And now that I’ve held you in my arms, I can’t imagine a time that I’ll ever want anything other than more of you.”

It all ends at a great place, and I look forward to seeing more of Ellie and Jasper in future books of the series, but for now I’m desperate for whatever Marie Force writes next.

4.5 stars.
