From New York Times Bestseller, Corinne Michaels, comes a new friends to lovers standalone romance.

There’s no way I’ll fall for Wyatt Hennington.

He can keep his Southern drawl, irresistible smile, and those pick-up lines all to himself. I made the mistake of sleeping with him not once, but twice. I’m not stupid enough to give him round three, especially after he left me in the middle of the night so I could see myself out. I vow to return to Philadelphia and forget him.

It proves easier said than done.

When the doctor informs me I’m the winner of door prize number two, I put my life on hold and head back to Bell Buckle. Three months and if we can’t make this work, I’m gone.

The problem is—when the cards are stacked against us, and I can’t bring myself to leave him, I’ll finally know if he truly loves me or if all my fears were real . . .

“Jump, and you will find out how to unfold your wings as you fall.”— Ray Bradbury

4.5 swoony, romantic and emotionally stunning stars

I love Corinne Michaels! She’s an auto-buy author for me and I know diving into her books that I am going to get a heartfelt, beautifully romantic read. She didn’t let me down with this one, and she added a massive dose of feels to it which had my heart aching and reading with tears streaming down my face. Honestly, I’m still feeling a little emotionally strung-out by the journey that she sent these characters on, but wow, she wrote it beautifully!

Wyatt and Angie were introduced in Say You’ll Stay – Wyatt is the younger brother of Zach and Angie is the sister-in-law/best friend of Presley. They share a strong attraction, and have hooked up both times that Angie has come to visit Presley in Bell Buckle, Tennessee from her home in Pennsylvania. Angie is a strong, independent woman. She’s never been in love and she’s fine with that. She has good friends, her own business, and two nephews that she adores, but there’s something about the cocky, charming cowboy that she can’t forget.

Wyatt has never had a problem getting women. But none of them have ever made him want anything more than casual… until Angie. And when she arrives in town – this time for an extended stay – he has no intentions of letting her get away again.

I was drawn to her like I haven’t been with anyone else. She lit me up and then she left me burning.

God, I love these two together! There’s a naturalness to them that I felt from the first moment they are together. They’re both a little wary of sharing their emotions, but you can see exactly how much they are feeling for each other, and I adored their early flirting and banter as they grew comfortable around each other found their way forward.

“When we go there again, it’s going to be because you have feelings above the fact that we have amazing sex. It’s going to be about you and me, and what we’re buildin’ here. I want you.” He kisses me. “I want you more than anything. But not when you’re holding back, and not when you’re feelin’ guilty because I gave you the best orgasm of your life.”
“Umm,” I laugh. “Little full of yourself?”
“You’ll be full of me soon.”
“Oh, God.”
“You can call me Wyatt.”

Wyatt, in particular, melted my heart as he fought hard for his girl. He wore his heart on his sleeve for her, and I loved his sweet gestures, heartfelt honesty and swoony declarations. And as Angie fell for the big cowboy, I fell right alongside her.

My hand touches his cheek. “You want me to keep fighting this?”
His eyes close as he rubs his face in my palm. “I love watching your walls crumble. I love watching your reasons diminish. I’m really going to enjoy it when you finally realize just how much you want me.” His voice drops, and he looks at me again, serious this time. “Because make no mistake— you’ll want me. I’m makin’ damn sure of it.”

But their road is not an easy one. Wyatt and Angie are put to the test in a way that neither of them are prepared for, and in a way that literally made me catch my breath. The feels! I can’t stress enough the feels that I had while reading this book. I. Felt. Everything! And it threatens to destroy their newfound love and everything that they’ve built together.

I could rave on and on about this book, but it’s best to just dive in and experience it without knowing too much ahead of time. It’s unexpected, for sure, and though it hurt to read at times, it’s a beautifully told story with a gorgeous romance, and I struggled to put it down.

“Say you want me.” His eyes hold mine.
I lift my hands, take his face between them, and lock on to his eyes. “I want you.”

I’m usually always about the hero in a romance novel – who isn’t? And though Wyatt completely swept me off my feet, I have to acknowledge the awesome that is Angie. God, she’s a strong character! She goes through a lot on this book and her character development is downright stunning! The change we see in her is amazing, and her journey is, again, wonderfully written. I empathised with her and completely admired her, and I think she’s absolutely sensational!

And Wyatt *dreamy sigh*. The man can bring the swoon, that’s for sure. He also grows and changes a lot throughout the book, and I thought he was a wonderful hero. He’s flawed and he’s not always perfect, but with everything that happens I could understand where he was at. And though it hurt, I was able to give him some leniency with everything they had to deal with.

I loved how people from the town were included in the story – they made the town of Bell Buckle really come to life. And of course I loved seeing Presley and Zach together, and I’m really excited for the third Hennington brother, Trent’s, story next.

Corrine Michaels has given us a really special story for Wyatt and Angie. Definitely not the story I was expecting, and it’s not what I wanted for them, but it’s beautifully told, and the bad times just make the ending all the more sweeter – and this one is gorgeous! I loved this story and was captivated from start to finish.

4.5 stars.
