Is this love or just a game?

Tori Rivera thinks Jamie McCade is rude, arrogant, and worst of all . . . the sexiest man she’s ever laid eyes on.  His reputation as a player is almost as legendary as his surfing skills. No matter how her body heats up when he’s around, she’s determined not to be another meaningless hookup.

Jamie McCade always gets what he wants. The sickest wave. The hottest women. And Tori, with her long legs and smart mouth, is definitely the hottest one. He knows Tori wants him—hell, most women do—but she won’t admit it. After months of chasing and one unforgettable kiss, it’s time for Jamie to raise the stakes.

Jamie promises that soon Tori won’t just want him in her bed, she’ll be begging for it-and he might be right.  Somehow he’s found the spot in her heart that makes her open up like never before. But with all she knows about his past, can she really trust what’s happening between them? Is Jamie playing for keeps or just playing to win?

Review

“This feels like forever”

Hot and sexy with fantastic banter and an intense romance that is so much fun, this is a great read!

4 stars!

After falling in mad love with Four Letter Word earlier this year, I have been SO excited to get my hands on this book! The tease that was Jamie and Tori in the first book was irresistible, and it’s continued on in their own story, which picks up where the last one left off – though this can easily be read as a standalone.

Jamie McCade is champion surfer and runs his own surf store with his best friend, Brian. He is a total playboy – smooth, arrogant and effortlessly sexy, and for nine months he has had his eyes set on one person – Tori Rivera. Tori has been badly hurt by the last man she allowed into her life, she’s not about to get involved with another player, so she does everything she can to reject Jamie’s advances and keep him at arm’s length – even though the devastatingly gorgeous smartass attracts her like no other. Their back and forth is highly entertaining as Jamie pushes and Tori sasses right back. Jamie has that KA-alpha swagger about him, and their interactions are pretty much this…

He stared at me, at my eyes, my lips, the line of my neck revealed from my hair being gathered over one shoulder, and lower, my breasts down to my toes and back up again.
I glared at him, watching his eyes do this appraising wander, and the longer it went on, the more irritated I became.
“You finished?” I grated.
“With you?” He met my gaze. His eyes were burning now, “No fuckin’ way.”

“I want something? I get it, and I don’t fuckin’ lose. Ever. No shit. I’m not just blowin’ smoke up my own ass, babe. When I say I don’t fuckin’ lose, I mean, I do not fuckin’ lose. That applies to a lot of shit, Legs, and it sure as fuck applies to you.”

Things become even more intense when all of that chemistry explodes and they end up making a bet on who can have who begging for sex first, creating the perfect opportunity for epic flirting as they try to drive each other crazy, turning the whole situation into a highly entertaining, simmering pot of sexual tension.

“There it is,” he murmured, his breath hot against my face as he bent to get closer. “There it fuckin’ is. You’re feelin’ it now.”

Things between then inevitably change as the time they spend teasing each other leads to actual conversation and an all-too-natural (though still chemistry-laden) easiness between them, and when true feelings are revealed and emotion becomes involved, they can’t hold back their mad lust for each other any longer and Holy. Freaking. Hotness!!!! I was expecting this book to be sexy, but this book is beyond sexy. There is so much sex, and it’s hot and wild and passionate and emotional – honestly it’s pretty freaking awesome. And it builds on what is already an intense chemistry and adds a lot to their relationship – showing their connection and the intensity that is between them, and as their feelings for each other deepen, I was easily swept up in everything that develops between them.

“Nine months was nothin’ babe. I would’ve waited years for you.”

I love this relationship! Usually this sort of push and pull can get really annoying, but the dynamic between Jamie and Tori is so well written that it becomes a game for them and adds to the intensity of everything that is them together.

“You wanna act like a jealous girlfriend, then you can fuckin’ admit that’s what you are to me … Claim me, babe.”

It’s fun, it’s sexy, and it allows Jamie to flex his alpha muscles while Tori constantly throws attitude at him, and that part of their relationship is an important part of them and who they are together, and I love that it continues even after deep feeling become involved. It creates a great sense of fun game playing, though there is a wonderful honesty between them as well, and I thought it was really cleverly done.

She was mine, and I knew exactly what she was hiding. “Think you love me, babe,” I offered up, tired of waiting for her to admit it.

Jamie McCade absolutely stole my heart in this book. His alpha-ness is pretty full-on, but his arrogance, charm and determination is fantastic and his sexy swooniness melted me as he went all out to get his girl – never holding anything back from her and putting herself right out there for her .

“Never loved you more than I do right fuckin’ now,” I shared. “And that’s saying a lot, ‘cause ten minutes ago I was crazy about you.”

The development of their relationship is natural and realistic and really beautifully written, and I loved the detail we were given as we watched it all unfold and saw the sweet, the swoony, the sexy and the intensity that is these two together.

The one thing that brought this book down for me was a conflict thrown in at the end. It was stupid, unnecessary and absolutely ridiculous and honestly came out of nowhere! It felt like it was thrown in just for the sake of drama when it honestly wasn’t needed, and I found it really disappointing.

“Blowin’ up over nothing. Putting’ something this stupid between us. That’s fucked up.”

Yep, that’s pretty much it! But thankfully it was over very quickly and resolved well, and the story ends with an epilogue that is absolutely perfect and left me with a big smile on my face.

Love was an adventure. It should be spontaneous and irresponsible and a little crazy … I wanted this how it always was between us – uncontrollable. Overwhelming. And never, ever contained.

I loved this book. It’s a fun, sexy read with lots of chemistry and a hero you can’t help but love. There’s a strong KA-vibe which was a lot of fun, and the romance is absolutely gorgeous. I’m definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

4 stars.

Tori slapped the counter and gained everyone’s attention when she started yelling, “I did not run you over, Jamie! Jesus Christ! Quit spreading lies about me!”

“It ain’t lies if it’s true!” I yelled back, glaring at her.

A laugh bubbled in her throat. She tilted her head and stuck her hand on her hip. “Please.  I’m sure you’re still able to bang everything with a pulse, as usual, which means you’re fine.  Get over it, and grow some balls. I cried less when I watched Bambi the first time.”

“Who’s hungry?” Syd asked nonchalantly, moving behind her friend to round the island and stand near the stove.

I ignored her question because, what the fuck? Grow some balls?

“I gotta pair, babe,” I told Legs, reaching down and palming my shit. “You should know since you’ve been all up on ’em the past nine months.”

She rolled her eyes. “You’re disgusting.”

I felt my mouth twitch.

And that was when, for some fucked up reason, I reverted back to my old ways with Tori Rivera, forgetting all about how much I fucking hated her and instead going full-on, hell-bent determined to get an admission out of that smart-ass mouth.

“You want it,” I countered, tipping my chin up.

She wasn’t expecting that. No more than I was. It threw her off.

Her shoulders pulled back and her lips parted.

Then, maybe to cover her tell, or maybe she didn’t have control over what was flying out of her mouth either, I didn’t know, but she brought her other hand to her hip, glared at me with heat flashing in her eyes, tipped forward, and shot back with attitude, “You want it.”

Well shit. This was new. Legs was challenging me and she was doing it flirting. There was no doubt in my mind.

“Sorry, babe,” I said, keeping the smirk and letting go of my junk. “Not interested. I told you yesterday, I’m done waitin’ around. But you?” I pointed my beer at her. “You’ll be beggin’ for it before the month is up. Just watch.”

“Fat chance,” she snapped. “I wouldn’t sleep with you if my life depended on it.”

“Wanna bet?”

“Bet what?”

“What’s going on right now?” Syd called out, but I wasn’t pausing to answer her.

I smiled at Tori, then gestured between us, explaining, “First one to break and come crawling to the other person for sex, loses.”

“Are you serious?” She laughed, not in amusement but in disbelief.

“Yeah, I’m serious,” I answered.

“You want to bet me that I’ll want to have sex with you before you try and have sex with me?” she questioned, moving her finger between us. “You, the guy who has been hitting on me for nine straight months and has been rejected for nine straight months? You seriously think I’ll not only want to have sex with you, but I’ll beg you for it? Is that what I just heard?”

I nodded slowly. I had this in the bag. “A rule. No fuckin’ anyone unless it’s each other.”

Her eyes bugged.

“And no masturbating either,” I added, raising my beer and using it to gesture. “Since we both know when you do it you’re thinkin’ about me, and if you’re that fuckin’ horny you need to rub one out or you’ll fuckin’ explode, you can come to me, Legs, beg, and I’ll put that fire out for you.”
