4 emotionally intense, super-hot stars!

The fourth book in the Tear Assunder series brings us the story of drummer Killian ‘Kite’ Kane. As I have come to expect from this author’s writing, this is a deeply emotional book featuring two characters who have been through so much but who completely fall for each other despite their heartache. The love story is gorgeous, an almost-second-chance romance that was both beautifully sweet and sinfully sexy, and perfect for the characters. I was hooked from start to finish, and I absolutely loved it!

Note : Of course there are ties to the other books in the series, however you could read this one as a standalone – know that there will be backstory that you are missing out on, but it’s backstory relating to other characters, not Kite or Savvy.

Killian and Savannah ‘Savvy’ met in high school – she as the sweet-hearted good girl, and he as the broody bad boy. Though their actual encounters were brief, they were profound and they each left a mark on the other that would prove impossible to shift, even after Savvy is forced to leave town.

“I’m glad you’re leaving town.”
I stiffened raising my chin. “Why?”
“Because if you come near me again, next time I won’t let you go.”

Eleven years later and Savvy is about to hit rock bottom. She turns to Killian for help, and though he is initially brush and standoffish, you can see the protectiveness that drives his actions. He has always been a protector, and he wants to protect Savvy more than most, and when her determination to defy him has them butting heads, the sizzling chemistry between them only intensities and Killian sees his opportunity for the second-chance he never got, and he is determined to take it.

Cupping my chin, he tilted my head so our eyes met. “You were always meant to be mine, Savvy.”

I loved this story! Kite has always been a bit of a mysterious character. It’s been hinted that he’s a fan of kink and a bit of a manwhore, so seeing him open up to Savvy and devote himself to her from the very beginning was so gorgeous! I could feel the connection between them and the progression of everything between them was easy and natural, and I loved watching them give in to the inevitable and follow their hearts.

“I don’t want to define this, Savvy. I just want you.”

Killian stole my heart. There’s just something about a broken, brooding bad boy that gets to me (especially when there’s a heartwrenching backstory that made him that way), and the vulnerability and sweetness that he showed to Savvy was gorgeous. And then there’s the fact that he’s a filthy bastard with a dirty, dirty mouth who is hot as all hell in the bedroom, dauym! Savvy is just as fantastic – smart and determined with a huge heart, she is the kind of person who sees the good in everybody, and the way she allowed Killian into her life and accepted him so unreservedly was beautiful to see. And together they are magic. There is no game playing or stupid behaviour – they are honest, open and affectionate, and the blend of sweet, hot and swoony is gorgeous!

“Never wanted anyone else. Never … You’re all I ever needed.”

But Killian is still battling with the very real demons of his past. He has been hurt and broken, and he would do anything to protect Savvy from the evil that has plagued him. There are hurdles that they need to overcome – both real and emotional – and their journey to do just that is heartbreaking yet beautiful.

“Never a day will go by that I won’t love you. And never will there be a hint of uncertainty that you belong anywhere else but right here.”

*dreamy sigh*

All of the boys from the band are a part of the story, of course, and I loved catching up with them and their girls, and I loved the introduction of Savvy’s friend, Trevor, who will be the hero of the next book.

I loved this book. It’s emotional, sweet and sexy and the romance is intense, and I was completely captivated by Killian and Savvy’s story.

4 stars.
