Graham Russell and I weren’t made for one another.

I was driven by emotion; he was apathetic. I dreamed while he lived in nightmares. I cried when he had no tears to shed.

Despite his frozen heart and my readiness to run, we sometimes shared seconds. Seconds when our eyes locked and we saw each other’s secrets. Seconds when his lips tasted my fears, and I breathed in his pains. Seconds when we both imagined what it would be like to love one another.

Those seconds left us floating, but when reality knocked us sideways, gravity forced us to descend.

Graham Russell wasn’t a man who knew how to love, and I wasn’t a woman who knew how to either. Yet if I had the chance to fall again, I’d fall with him forever.

Even if we were destined to crash against solid ground.

6 “Maktub” stars

We weren’t supposed to fall for one another, she and I.
Yet it seemed gravity had a way of pulling us closer.

Wow, what a read! I should realize by now that I can never quite prepare for how much a Brittainy C. Cherry book will make me feel with the vast emotion she puts into each and every story and how much love she has in her heart. This deeply emotional story makes you feel everything. It is real, raw, and addictive, and it grabs your heart and doesn’t let go.  The feels were all over the place from breathtaking highs to heartbreaking lows and I lived and loved every single one of them.

The storyline is unique and though it wasn’t an overly complex story, it still had amazing depth that made it realistic. The characters were remarkable and the way and reason their lives intersect was well crafted. I found myself quickly immersed in their lives.

Lucy is a “hippie weirdo” who is loveable from the moment you meet her. She is one of those characters that instantly puts a smile on your face and makes you believe that goodness still exists in a world of pain and suffering. I loved Lucy’s strength and bravery, and she had no trouble giving her all. She is not afraid to stand her ground and make a difference in the lives around her. She had a huge heart and her patience, compassion, and forgiving nature were incredible. The beauty that flows from her soul is heartwarming and pure. Her positivity lights up the world around her and lit my heart as well.

Her emotions weren’t what made her weak.
They were her strength.

Graham is numb, cold, serious, and the complete opposite of Lucy.

She was the girl who felt everything, and I was the man who felt nothing at all.

She wore her heart on her sleeve, and I kept my heart wrapped in steel chains deep within my soul.

Graham built up walls around his heart and lives in a way that protects him from being hurt again. His past broke my heart and I wanted to take away all of the pain he kept hidden below the surface. He is such a well written character and the growth he goes through is perfectly described and believable. His vulnerabilities melted my heart and made me love the broody man even more.

I’d died a million deaths before I gave living a chance, and my first breath of life was taken from her lips.

These characters were wonderful together. Lucy was the one person who could change Graham’s life completely. She taught him how to truly love. To live. To enjoy life. I loved watching his cold demeanor thaw as she slowly became a vital role in his life.

“Being around you does something strange to me, something that hasn’t happened in such a long time.”
“What happens?”
He took my hand in his then led it to his chest, and his next words came out as a whisper. “My heart begins to beat again.”

Their friendship was slow to progress but it was real and I loved it. It played out like a movie in my head and the quiet yet passionate love that sneaks up on them is absolutely breathtaking. It is so full of hope and I could feel it deep down in my soul. But circumstances can prevent even the truest love from being enough and my heart hurt for them.

Sometimes when your heart wanted a full-length novel, the world only gave you a novella, and sometimes when you wanted forever you only had those few seconds of now.

This story provided jaw dropping twists that left me speechless and yet I felt that each event was meant to be and fit perfectly in the story. Every word had significance and every emotion shined through. It had me on edge, nerves wracking my body. It had tears of sorrow and tears of joy streaming down my face. It had me falling in love right along with Lucy and Graham. The sheer beauty of this story is extraordinary.

The Gravity of Us is not just about the romance. It’s about the love within a family and the love between friends and how each one of the amazing side characters plays a special role in Graham and Lucy’s lives. It’s about growth, healing, and having a greatest hope in life. It was perfect.

I absolutely loved this book!! It now occupies a spot on my 2017 Favorite Reads shelf and all I want to do is flip back to page one and re-live it again and again.
