4.5 “Do-over” stars!

More sexy, sweet and swoony stories from Max Monroe? Yes, please. The duo is back with a new rom com series and the first book, Dr. OB, is fantastic.

Dr. Will Cummings, head of Obstetrics at St Luke’s Hospital, is approached by a TV production company to do a reality series on doctors. After accepting a part in the docuseries, The Doctor Is In is created. Also featuring Dr. Scott Shepard, head of the Emergency Department, and Dr. Nick Raines, head of Neurology, there are several episodes focused on each doctor individually with Will’s episodes airing first.

In the beginning, Will only saw the excitement surrounding the show. That all changes when he sits down to watch the first segment and he realizes how everything in reality TV can be skewed.

I couldn’t wait to invite viewers into my world. It was all very innocuous. But then…a list of everything in my world – or the one they intended to paint – scrolled across the screen.
The one is expected – medicine. One I encouraged – innovation.
And then, a whole litany of adjectives that were sure to haunt me for the rest of my life.

Sex.
Scandal.
Intrigue.
Secrets.
Lies.
…Dr. OB appeared at the bottom. Only this time, a ghost of the letters “s-c-e-n-e” filled the space right after.
Dr. OBscene.
Dr. Obscene.
Me. They’re talking about me.
…everything was silent.
My whole life was flashing before my eyes.

Melody Marco’s life is less than ideal. She is a newly single, unemployed, twenty-nine-year-old living at home with her parents in her too small childhood bedroom turned bubblegum pink workout room. As bad as it seems, she is happy because she made the choices that have led her back to NYC and to an interview for a nursing position at Dr. Will Cummings’s office at the hospital.

After accepting the job offer, Melody finds nothing but awkwardness and craziness.

God, what was it with this place? It was like I’d stepped onto the set of the medical version of The Office. The only difference was that this boat of crazy wasn’t commanded by Captain Michael Scott. It was Dr. Awkward Adonis.

Working for Will is definitely different and as Melody and Will start to hit it off, the atmosphere in the office gets even wilder as Will deals with the popularity he’s encountered since being in the docuseries. Throw in intense feelings and hot chemistry between Melody and Will and it only gets crazier!!

I loved this book. It is laugh-out-loud funny yet still gives you the heart and heat we have come to expect from a Max Monroe rom com. It’s over-the-top at times, cringe worthy at other times, but totally swoony, sweet, and fun. This book was entertaining and addictive, and I loved the uniqueness of the story and the depth of the characters.

I adored Will and loved his personality. His character was well developed and I love how he wasn’t the perfect man people see on the outside. Sure he was sexy as hell, smart, funny, and super sweet, but he was also awkward and vulnerable which made him real and believable. He was honest and straight forward with Melody and I loved that he didn’t play games. He has a huge heart, especially when it comes to Melody, but also with his patients and he shows off his caring nature with everything he does.

Melody was fantastic. I loved her honesty with herself and her bravery when she decided to take charge of her life. She is a genuinely kind and wonderful person and her beautiful heart revealed itself through her dreams and aspirations. I loved watching her find herself as she worked towards her passion. Her feelings towards Will were true, and though they developed quickly, I enjoyed that she didn’t really shy away from them. There wasn’t a lot of over-the-top push and pull which was a nice change.

I loved how Will and Melody met and how their interactions kept getting more and more comical. They were fantastic together even though they were a bit awkward at times. OK, a lot awkward. But they were a good fit for each other, filling a need they didn’t recognize they had and giving comfort and support when they needed it most. When they were together they could drop their walls and not worry about what people think of them. It was beautiful to watch their relationship form and grow into something passionate, and I loved how no matter how intense their connection was, they appreciated it.

I felt him take me in. He didn’t touch me. Kiss me. Say anything. But make no mistake, Will savored me. His blue eyes caressed and whispered against every single inch of my skin so vividly it felt like a real touch.

Their attraction was well-written and I loved the tension that sizzled around them along with their mind-blowing chemistry. The sexy time is intense and real, and their dirty talk is hot. It was refreshing to see the confidence they had when they were together.

“I’d never done with anyone what we did that day. I’ve never done with anyone what we always do…You and I, we make love, Mel, even when we’re fucking.”

Though it was a fun and light read, there was definitely some angst thrown into the mix.  The emotions surrounding the drama were gut wrenching and believable and I wanted to cry for Melody and Will as they lived through the heartbreak. The whole situation hurt my heart and thankfully it didn’t last too long.

Once someone left their mark on your heart, it was permanent. I wasn’t something that would disappear.

The Cummings family is crazy in a good way. The quirks, the love, the freindships, the over-the-top antics, it was all entertaining. Since Georgia is Will’s sister, I expected to see more of her and Kline (Tapping the Billionaire) in this story but I was pleasantly surprised to see the other Bad Boy Billionaires and their ladies too!

Overall, I loved it! A fantastic start to a new rom com series, I can’t wait to see what comes next!
