Synopsis

Sage Mayson had Kimberly Cullen once, and the memory of that brief encounter has tortured him since the moment he pushed her away. He should have followed his gut, but he didn’t, and now he’s left watching the woman he wants more than anything from afar.

Kimberly vowed to protect her heart from Sage, but when her sister is murdered and her world starts to fall apart, he’s the one person she finds herself leaning on.

Getting a second chance is something Sage knows is rare. He’s not going to squander the one he’s been given, and he won’t take no for an answer when it comes to making Kim his.

But what Sage doesn’t know is Kim has a secret that could leave them both devastated and heartbroken.

I loved this book! With a strong heroine, an alpha male that you cannot help but fall for, a fast-moving, functional, swoony relationship and hella hot sexy time, it is everything that I love about this series!

The Until world is a well-developed though possibly difficult to navigate series. The books all link together as they tell stories of individual members of the Mayson family. The Until books are about the original brothers, the Until Her books are about their daughters, and the timeline of those is mixed with the Until Him books, about their sons. If you want full details, including reading order, there’s an explanation here, but you could technically read these books as standalones – each book has its own complete story, but just be aware that there will be spoilers for earlier books in the series.

Sage and Kim’s story has been hinted at in previous books, and it hasn’t been a simple one, and here we see everything in glorious detail – from their first meeting and that incredible time that they spent together, to the misunderstanding that tore it all apart, and then their coming back together as they both come to accept all that they are feeling for each other and just go with it.

In the twenty-four hours we spent together, you gave me a taste of something beautiful, and the memories of those moments have haunted me since I walked away from you. It’s something I have regretted doing since then, something I know I will always regret, because even if by some chance you forgive me, I will never be able to get back the time with you that I missed out on.

Sage is the adopted son of Nico and Sophie, and like his father, cousins and brothers, he’s an alpha badass with a heart of gold. He knows he stuffed up with Kim, and he’s a man on a mission to win back the girl that he knows is his.

“We’re not friends. If you haven’t figured that out by now, I’ve still got work to do. It’s my job to take care of you. I didn’t do any of that shit out of kindness. I did it because I look out for mine. And make no mistake about it, baby, you are mine.”

Kim is a friend to most of the extended Mayson clan, and while we’ve seen bits and pieces of her, I loved the opportunity to really get to know her. She’s an incredibly strong woman with a well-developed backstory, and there is so much more to her than I was expecting. She was left broken-hearted by Sage, and though it takes a bit of convincing, she recognises that what they had was special and I loved her bravery and willingness to give him another chance.

And following on in the grand tradition of Mayson men – when Sage feels the boom, he doesn’t let anything stand in his way. There is nothing he wouldn’t do for Kim, and the way he is there for her with all that she goes through is gorgeous. And of course he’s totally and completely smitten and that alpha possessive/protective streak is fantastic.

So fucking beautiful. So fucking perfect. All fucking mine.

I love Sage and Kim together. They are sweet and fun, they challenge each other, they have great chemistry and the sexual tension is fantastic! They fall hard and fast for each other, and I was easily lost in the emotion and passion of their relationship, which was all-consuming but felt realistic, and beautifully swoony.

“It was you. You ruined me for anyone else. You didn’t even know you were doing it, but did it all the same.”

There are some issues they need to resolve and some hurdles that they need to overcome, but it’s real-life stuff without any OTT drama, and overall this is a quick, easy read that I read in one sitting and really enjoyed. I loved the characters, the romance was gorgeous, and that epilogue was absolute perfection! This is a definite fave of the Until world, and I loved it!

4.5 stars.

Excerpt

“He apologized. Don’t you think you should do the polite thing and at least hear him out?”
“I don’t know.”
“You don’t know, or you’re just too scared to find out what will happen if you do?”
“Do we have to do this right now?” I sigh, and he tosses his arm around my shoulders and pulls me into his side.
“We’ve been doing this for months now. I’ve seen the way you look at him when you think no one will notice, and I see the way he looks at you, not giving a fuck if everyone sees. Even when he thought you and I were a thing, he still made it perfectly clear to those who were watching that if by some chance he got a shot, you would be his.”
“I really think you are reading way too much into this.”
“Am I?”
