3.5 “thick as thieves” stars

Thieves 2 Lovers by K. Webster and J.D. Hollyfield brings us the story of Linc and Reagan. Reagan is the sister of Ram, from Text 2 Lovers, and Roman, from Hate 2 Lovers. Linc and Reagan initially meet in Hate 2 Lovers when Linc shows up at her office to find Andrea, his sister who was dating Roman. Roman and Linc immediately dislike each other but that doesn’t stop Linc and Reagan from forming a strong bond.

Linc and Reagan became best friends and did everything together until he screwed up big time when he kissed her. Now the friendship that was once easy and normal is anything but. They haven’t talked and both Linc and Reagan are pretty much avoiding each other, leaving Linc with a lot of time on his hands…to get into trouble.

Linc’s got a habit of stealing and it’s catching up with him quickly. When he ends up on Reagan’s doorstep, she sees the bruises from his most recent altercation and wants to help. Offering to let him stay with her while he figures out what he’s going to do next is the sort of thing a best friend does. Right? This sweet gesture is far from simple though since Linc wants Reagan and Reagan has a boyfriend. Linc accepts Reagan’s offer though, complicating their relationship even more than it already is. Being roommates with your best friend sounds like fun but there is bound to be heartache when feelings are involved.

Moving in with her was a very bad idea.
I’m going to ruin our friendship.
One fucking compliment at a time.
The destruction is imminent, yet I still can’t find it in me to stop.
I want her, no matter the consequences.
And fuck if I don’t hate myself for being so selfish.

Add on secrets and everything that means something to them can crumble in an instant. With obstacles in their way, can these best friends find a way to become more?

Full of humor and steam, Thieves 2 Lovers is a forbidden romance with just enough suspense to balance out the fun without being too angsty. From the moment I met Linc and Reagan, I felt their connection and wanted to get my hands on their story.

I loved Linc from the start and think that he stole the show.  He was unbelievably sweet and had such a big heart. Reagan meant the world to him and everything he wanted for her gave me the warm and fuzzies inside. He was 100% all-in when it came to Reagan and I loved that he realized his feelings from the very beginning.

“I see you, sweetheart. Always. You’re all that I see. And, Rey,” I confess, “I don’t want to see anything else.”

I loved his acceptance of Reagan for who she was completely and unconditionally. He’s a sexy bad boy too, and even if he didn’t always say it out loud, he allowed his naughty thoughts to run wild and his dirty side to come out and play. Sexy, open, adventurous, and inviting, it’s easy to see why Linc sets the pages on fire.

It took me a little while to warm up to Reagan. She was so conflicted about her feelings and what she allowed herself to have that she made me conflicted and frustrated about her actions. I understood why she felt the way she did but it was clear what she wanted and who she wanted. I would have liked to see her stand up for herself and make the decision she needed to make without drawing it out as long as she did nor focus as much on what other people wanted.

As the story went on though, I started to like her more. She saw only the good in Linc and I loved that she was always supporting him and believing in him. She had a good heart and wanted to make people happy, so it was gratifying when she finally went after what makes her happy.

Linc and Reagan are wonderful both as best friends and as lovers. I could feel their attraction and how much they meant to each other. The chemistry was tangible and the sexual tension, even as just friends, was thick with desire, and there are some majorly steamy moments that will make you fan yourself. When they are not getting down and dirty though, their interactions were also cute sweet and silly. They have fun and can be exactly who they are without judgement. Their relationship is easy and believable and their love was all-consuming.

I kiss her with as much passion I can express. I kiss her and try to show her what love tastes like.

Though the story is heavy on the sexy time, it’s not just about the fun and romance. There’s a lot more going on around that drastically affects their lives. Linc is keeping some pretty big secrets that are more serious than Reagan could imagine. Dangerous situations and hurt feelings do nothing but threaten to ruin their relationship and I thought the suspense was well incorporated into the storyline.

The epilogue was sweet and finished the series beautifully. We get glimpses into the futures of all of the couples and knowing how everything plays out for Linc and Reagan, Ram and Dani, and Roman and Andie put a huge smile on my face even if it was cheesy.

Happy endings aren’t endings at all. They just get happier and happier as time goes on.
