4.5 twisted fuckery stars

Wow, what a fantastic read! A smart, sexy, unique and wickedly seductive story about one woman and three men all seeking pleasure, but doing it in an unconventional way – in a relationship governed by rules. This book won’t be for everybody, but I am always fascinated by the dynamics of relationships such as these, and this is SUCH A well-written book! It wild and carnal and a bit of a mindfuck, but OMG, it’s such a great story, and I was mesmerised from start to finish.

“If you want to go dark, go dark. Don’t take a light.”

Smith Baldwin, Quinn Foster and Elias ‘Bric’ Brickman are a part of the exclusive Turning Point club, where they live out their wildest fantasies (Bric owns it, and the other two may as well have a partnership). Best friends, the men have been in a partnership for years where they invite a woman to play their game. Each man gets two nights and two days per week with her…
Number 1 can’t touch
Number 2 can do whatever the hell he wants
Number 3 can only be with her when number 1 is present

“Number One is there to deny you. Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Number Two is there to satisfy you after the abstinence. Number Three is there to give you what you really want—Number One, with conditions.”

And when all four of them are together – there are no rules.

“If I fuck you first without the other guys involved, then you’d be mine and not ours. And I’m more interested in ours than mine.”

Marcella Walcott has just entered their world after their previous girl, Rochelle, unexpectedly left their arrangement. The daughter of a senator, Chella is wealthy and privileged, but there’s something about her that craves the darkness that being with the three men can bring, and she throws herself into all of the experiences that they have to offer.

I like it in the dark. I don’t need a light to guide me through it. And I didn’t need a peek. Because I’ve been living in the dark for a very long time, I just didn’t want to admit it.

Wow, this was an intense read. I listened to it as an audiobook – which was fantastic btw – and I could not stop listening! The book is written in four-way-POV, the characters have so much depth and are wonderfully developed, and I was 100% engaged with each of them. I was invested in their stories, I was so freaking curious about them and their arrangement, and I couldn’t wait to see how it was all going to play out.

“We are all responsible for our own happiness. I don’t need him to make me happy. He doesn’t need me to make him happy. We make each other happy. And we do that by making ourselves happy.”

Obviously the sex is descriptive and intense, and a little bit kinky, but it is well-written and works with the story. But the star of this book is the dynamics between the characters. Each of the relationships is unique – both the one-to-one, and when they are together in different groups, and I loved how they were so well developed to match the characters and the different connections between them. There is lust and passion, affection and, in their own way, love, and though the boys are definitely in charge, Chella’s strength and sass blends beautifully with their demands and as intense as it all is, there are also sweet moments and a lightness which is lots of fun.

“What do I get out of this?” Marchella asks.
Smith laughs. “Besides sex.”
She glares at him. “I get that part, thanks. Because although I’m sure you all have golden cocks that can bring virgins to orgasm without foreplay, I’m not sure it’s enough compensation for being bossed around and treated like shit.”
This time I’m the one who laughs. Pretty loud, too. “Burn,” I say, unable to hide my delight.

I loved their frankness about everything that is happening between them. Yes, it’s all a game, but there’s no stupid behaviour or backstabbing. They genuinely care for each other, everybody is well aware of where everybody else stands, they talk about what’s going on, and they revel in it.

“Working together, finding common ground, and making decisions that are best for the group, not the individual. What you want doesn’t matter. What Smith and Quin want doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is us. And once you figure out what us is, you’ll know what it’s really like to live. I promise you. You’ll know, and you’ll never go back to singular relationships. They’ll feel hollow and simple. You will be addicted to us and we’ll be addicted to you. It’s a disease, Chella. And you’re sick as fuck, just like us.”

But when the rules are stretched, lines become blurred, and when feelings become involved, the battle between love and lust, heart and body, will test them all in ways they never expected.

“What would it take, Chella? … to change your mind and make you want to just be with me?”

It’s a hot, intense and fascinating ride with themes of lust, shame, guilt, acceptance and love, and I couldn’t put this book down. As I said, I listened to it as an audiobook, and the narration is absolutely perfect, bringing the story to life in a really special way.

There is a happy ending, and the trilogy continues with the focus shifting slightly for the next book, and I am diving right in!

4.5 stars!
