You and me, professor,” I whisper.
“You and me, beauty.”

What a beautifully romantic and satisfying conclusion to the series, and a fantastic way to say goodbye to an incredibly memorable and much loved romance couple.

I have followed Dean and Liv through heartbreak and happiness, despair and overwhelming love, and the whole time neither I, nor they, have ever doubted that they belong together. They truly are soul mates, and the love and passion between them is absolutely electric and just flies off the page. With the story told in dual POV, we once again get to see right into the heart of Dean and Liv, and see how deeply they feel for each other, and it’s just amazing.

I don’t know how it is that this one woman can both bring me to my knees and make me feel like the greatest knight in history.

He tightens one arm around my waist and cups the back of my neck with the other. We stare at each other, his eyes dark and intense before his lips come down on mine in a kiss of fierce, tender possession.
And just like that, I fall wildly in love with my husband all over again.

Following the issues that they have had to deal with in the last two books, this one seems a lot tamer. They have already been through so much together, and worked through so much, and their relationship is a lot stronger for it. And now, even though the legal problems from the last book are gaining intensity, drama from Liv’s past is coming to confront her in the present, and the two of them are separated for the first time in their relationship (with Dean working in Italy), I was never worried about what was going to happen, I just sat back and waited for the two of them to deal with it together in sensationally functional style.

“I love that you love me, professor.”
“I love loving you, beauty.”

Dean is so amazing. Intelligent, loyal and strong, he is romantic, gorgeously sexy, and a little bit dirty. Mmmmmm… perfect! And even though he is facing some huge personal and professional troubles, his number one concern is still Liv. Uber-protective, he will do anything he can to be there for his girl, and save her from one moment of heartbreak, and God, I love him for it!

“Look, I’m not going to apologise anymore … Yes, I want to protect you. You’re my wife. I’d fucking kill for you, Liv, and if that makes me a possessive bastard of a husband, then fine. That’s what I am. I’m not going to change either. I love you too goddamned much.”

But as incredible as Dean is, Liv really shines in this book. She finds her independence and really starts to take charge of her life and stand strong on her own. Not that she’s been a wallflower before, but Dean is so determined to care and provide for her, that she’s let him take the lead on a lot of things, and now she’s coming out on her own, and it was amazing to see!

“Sometimes you have to put on your big girl panties and deal with shit.”

And I love that as hard as it was for him, Dean could let her do that. Proving, once again, that he is the kind of man every woman wants…

“A man who slays monsters for the woman he loves and stands by her side when she needs to slay them by herself.”

And, of course, through it all, the passion between them is absolutely scorching! Even while on opposite sides of the world, they manage to get creative and steam things up, but when they are together… WOW! Have a fan or a squirty bottle handy when you read this one, because Dean and Liv cannot keep their hands (and other body parts) off each other, and together they are absolutely scorching! Be it hard and fast up against the wall, full of dirty talk on whatever piece of furniture or floor is available, or slow and steady in bed, these two rock it and rock it hard. And it’s all very well written as a reflection of the feeling between them, and their intense need for each other.

I want to grab her and shove her up against the nearest wall. Rip her clothes off and fuck her until the earth trembles and the stars explode. Until the universe shatters.

I did find this book to be a little bit slow in places, but having said that, I like that there is no drama just for drama’s sake. The problems that they are facing are all resolved, their personal issues are all sorted, and Dean and Liv handle everything functionally, always looking out for each other and doing what is best for them, and I really loved that. The ending was a little cheesy, but I still found myself cheering, and then there is an epilogue which left me smiling like a lunatic and feeling incredibly gushy.

“My husband and I will always be two people living one life of perfect imperfection.”

I have loved this series. Dean and Liv’s story is a unique one in contemporary romance, with no unnecessary drama or outlandish plot twists. It’s purely them, the love between them, and their absolutely unshakable commitment to each other as they deal with the ups and downs of life. It’s the kind of love that anybody would want, and it is truly beautiful.

“There are so many important lessons I’ve learned in my journey to now. Trust your instincts, follow your bliss, make plans, work hard, learn to let things go. Don’t be late. Remember that fortune favors the brave. Live. If you need to run, try and run toward something. Study for tests. Laugh at silly cartoons. Be organized. If you fall seven times, get up eight. Always carry an extra pen. Believe you can do everything. Find your key. And the most valuable lesson I’ve learned will forever live in my heart, right beside my husband. Love the one who proves to you that happily ever after is only the beginning.”

4 swoonily romantic stars.
