4.5 sweet and heartfelt stars

I randomly plucked this book from my kindle, and it took me completely by surprise! Entertaining and meaningful right from the start, I was instantly addicted and I absolutely loved it!

Logan is a sexy, pierced and heavily tatted tattoo artist. He is also deaf, but lost his hearing at the age of 13 so he knows how to speak, he just chooses not to and hasn’t spoken a word for eight years. He meets Kit when she comes to him for a tattoo, and the cocky manwhore is immediately attracted to the mysterious, guarded, and utterly beautiful girl. But when he acts like his usual, manwhoring self she is unimpressed, in fact is highly offended, and punches him in the face before leaving. You’ve gotta love her for that! It’s the beginning of a beautiful relationship!

Kit is homeless. She survives by busking in the subways during the day, and sleeping in homeless shelters at night. When she and Logan unintentionally meet again, he is determined to get to know her and now that he’s behaving like the sweetheart he is, things go way more smoothly. Kit has a learning disability and doesn’t read well, but Logan is so enamoured with her, he wants to be able to communicate with her, so he does what he hasn’t done in eight years. He talks to her. But only to her.

When Logan realises that she is all alone with nowhere to go he offers her a place to stay for the night in the home he shares with his four brothers. From there, a tentative friendship develops between the two of them, which quickly grows into something more as they start to fall for each other.

“I think I’m in like.”

I love this relationship! There is chemistry, it’s believable and it’s incredibly special. What Logan and Kit find together is so meaningful to the both of them – they accept each other without question, and their openness and honesty about what they are feeling is gorgeous. The two of them together absolutely melted me.

“I’ve been locked in my own world for a really long time … And I felt like maybe, just maybe, we were locked in our own little worlds and could let each other out.”

Kit’s story is heartbreaking. She is incredibly guarded, and hides a big secret. She so desperately wants Logan, but is terrified of hurting him so she keeps herself closed off and doesn’t share her past. Instead she keeps a part of herself from him, but gives him what she can, and hopes that it will be enough.

“She’s going to break your fucking heart, man.” …
I know. She’s going to break my fucking heart. Because I’ve never wanted anything with anyone the way I want something I can’t even define with her.

And OMG, I am madly in love with Logan. He’s an absolute sweetheart, and the way that he cares for Kit is beautiful! Having never been in love before, he is knocked on his ass by Kit, and his devotion to her and confidence that they belong together is gorgeous.

“I want you to trust me. And you don’t. Not yet. But you might one day.”

“If I ever get to fucking be inside you, I want to know what to call you. I want to at least know your name. Because when that happens, you’re going to fucking own me.” I tip her face up so she’s looking at me. “Do you understand?”
She looks unsure.
“You’re going to own me … And there’s nothing I want more.”

And just to add to the awesome, Kit is very quickly accepted into Logan’s family by his boisterous and gorgeous brothers, and the relationship that she develops with them is absolutely beautiful! I love the Reed boys. They rib and tease, but they are fiercely protective of each other and the love that they have for each other is obvious in all that they do. And the way they include Kit into their family is magic. I want to be adopted by them!

But when the unthinkable happens, Kit is faced with a heartbreaking decision that could destroy the happiness that she has found. But is it worth the cost?

I wasn’t too sure what to expect when I picked this one up, but it turned out to be one of those reads that I instantly loved, and I LOVE when that happens! Told in dual POV, it’s a quick read that moves at a great pace with lots of heart, some laughs, sweet moments and a beautiful romance with a nice amount of sexy time. There were a couple of inconsistencies, but they didn’t bother me too much. And that big dramatic ending (not a cliffy exactly, but not somewhere I was expecting the book to finish) had my heart in my throat, and me reaching straight for the next book of the series.

I loved it – 4.5 stars.
