4.5 “Lick you later, baby” stars.

I love this series! Love, love, love it! And I have been so excited to get to Ten’s book. I am happy to say that it was everything I was hoping for!

“So this is my Pathetic Loser’s confession: I am Oren Tenning, and I have fallen. Hard.”

Ten is a politically incorrect, manwhoring ass with a dirty mouth who swears constantly and lacks a filter. Of course, I love him madly. We have seen hints of his soft side, and I LOVED getting the chance to get to know him better as he finally gets a chance with the object of his affections – his best friend’s little sister, Caroline.

Noel Gamble (hero of book 2 in the series) has warned Ten away from his sister a number of times, on penalty of death. There is clearly an attraction between him and Caroline, and deeper feelings have been building for a while, but Ten is determined not to betray his best friend. They’ve even had a couple of close calls, but he’s always pushed her away, and has now started acting like even more of a jerk in order to scare her off.

But Caroline is a tough girl, and she’s not one to be swayed. She wants Ten, badly. And so, she sneaks into his room one night in the dark in order to make her move, pretending to be somebody else. It sounds bad, I know, but it’s a fantastic set up to their relationship. It’s hot, it’s funny, it creates a wonderful dynamic, and it adds a whole sense of anticipation to the story that is absolutely sensational!

“Damit it, Caroline. You started this. You came to me and tricked me into playing with you. Now you have me. Your brother is going to kill us both for this, so you better make it worth our while. You better sit up there and fuck me like you meant to the first night you came into this room, wearing no panties.”

Their sexual chemistry is off the charts and they can’t get enough of each other. And as they start to spend time together (both in and out of the bedroom), things between them start to change.

“Do you want me or not?”
His eyes flared as he looked into my face. “You know I want you. That’s the problem. I want you but I can’t
have you.”
I set my hands on my hips. “Well, you already
have had me. Repeatedly … We’ve already established how thoroughly you can have me. The question is…are you going to keep me?”

Caroline has been through a lot in her past, but she’s come through it and she tries not to let it impact too much on her life. She goes after what she wants, she speaks her mind, and she doesn’t let anybody come between her and what she considers important. I love that about her!

And Ten. OMG, Ten, how I love you! He’s nursing his own demons from the past, but it’s a side of him that he doesn’t let anybody else see. And with Caroline, for the first time, he lets somebody in, and we start to see that vulnerable side of him. I loved watching him start to realise exactly what Caroline means to him.

“What the fuck have you done to me Caroline? … Why couldn’t I stay away from you? … Why can’t I get enough of you? … What do I want to own every fucking piece of you?”

“Every time with you is better than the last. I can’t even…God, Caroline. You own me.”

I love the dynamic between these two. They are both so rude and smutty, so obviously there are fireworks. They laugh and are playful, they tease and banter, and they’re as hot as all hell together. They can talk about anything, and as they open up to each other, they share their lives in a way that is life-changing for both of them. And it’s all so natural! They fall into a relationship, they fall in love, and those tender moments between them are something very special

“How can I help you through this? What can I do to ease your pain, because I swear to God, I’ll do anything.”
Absolutely anything.
She set her hand on her heart and looked up at me, her eyes filled with so much emotion, I swear, some of it overflowed, spilling into me. “Just love me,” she whispered.
“I do,” I promised.

But no matter how perfect they are together, there is still the complication of Noel. For various reasons they keep their relationship hidden (although only a fool could miss their connection), and Ten, in particular, wrestles with keeping something so huge from his best friend.

“Gamble was my best friend and Caroline was my heart and soul. But I didn’t see how I could keep both.”

I loved this book. Freaking loved it! It’s fun, it’s super-hot, it’s romantic, and there is a just the right amount of drama to add depth without allowing it to overpower the story. Ten and Caroline are both fantastic characters, and they are incredible together.

“Baby, there’s nothing he could say or do to keep me away from you.”

I love that the whole crew was a part of the story. This is a really great bunch of characters, and I love any opportunity we get to catch up with them. Noel was a douche for a lot of the story, so he ticked me off, but he eventually comes through. I also loved the chance to get to know Caroline’s younger brothers – they are so sweet, so protective, and so scarily like Ten, they’re hilarious and I loved their involvement in the story.

Ten and Caroline’s story adds to the fantastic dynamic that Linda Kage has created throughout the series. I definitely recommend reading these books in order so that you can watch these relationships develop and appreciate how everybody fits in together.

This book is so entertaining, it moves at a great pace, and I honestly loved every moment. I could have done with a slightly less ‘exciting’ ending, but I loved the way it was all resolved, and I was so happy with the lack of relationship drama or stupid behaviour, it didn’t really bother me. And there’s even an epilogue set 5 years into the future which us a glimpse of the whole gang together, and further cements the happy ending.

It’s a great read, I absolutely loved – 4.5 stars.
