“I’m going to make you fall in love with me again.”

4 beautiful second-chance stars

Cash and Lilly’s story is definitely my favourite of the series. Cash is less caveman than his brothers, which I really appreciated, and he and Lilly have such a tragic set up – providing the basis for a gorgeous second-chance romance that is functional, passionate and swoonily romantic. Plus, throw in a couple of kids and it becomes so much sweeter. I loved it!

“Hey,” his fingers went to my chin, lifting my eyes to his, “we can take this slowly.”
“What is this?” I asked.
His eyes went warm, making my pulse speed up. “This…is the beginning of us.”

Cash and Lilly met in the last book of the series, and quickly fell into a relationship that was romantic, full of emotion, and life changing for them. It was a first for them both and they fell and fell hard for each other. But it all fell apart when Cash learned that one of his past hook-ups was pregnant with his child and threatened to abort if he didn’t make a go of things with her. So, torn between his love and the life of his child, Cash did the only thing he could thing of and he let Lilly go.

Four years later and Cash is divorced from his evil baby mama and is raising his adorable son, Jax, on his own. When he unexpectedly runs into Lilly, all of the feelings he has tried to forget over the years come roaring back, and then he realises that she has a young daughter – a daughter who looks like she could be a twin to his own son, and is very clearly his.

Lilly was left shattered when Cash left her all those years ago. She was also left pregnant. She tried to do the right thing by him, but ended up raising her daughter all alone, and she has created a wonderful life for the two of them. But she never got over losing the love of her life.

Lies and deception tore them apart, and now that they have found each other again, Cash isn’t prepared to let Lilly, or their daughter, go. He immediately becomes a part of their lives, getting to know little Ashlyn, and rekindling what he thought he lost.

“You are my one. I gave you up once but that will never happen again.”“Why can’t I hate you?” Her words are quiet, and I can hardly make them out.
I whisper into her ear before kissing her under it, “Because I am your one, too.”

I absolutely loved this story!!! Cash and Lilly are obviously still very much in love with each other, and their coming back together could have been a long-drawn-out affair full of grudges, doubt and fear, but instead they chose to move forward and rediscover each other all over again – this time with their family.

“I know we have a lot to work on, and I know that it’s going to take time for us to rebuild what was broken, but I also know that if we do, we will have something that is beyond anything that either of us thought possible.”

Their coming together is so, so beautiful! Unlike his brothers, Cash doesn’t barge in and take over. Instead he takes his time, making sure that Lilly is comfortable and trusts him again before he takes things further. She’s understandably scared, and they have their kids to consider, but I thought the whole thing was paced beautifully! Their feelings for each other were always strong, and they both very quickly confess that those feelings are still there, but they built their relationship slowly, making sure what they have is stable, and it was absolutely gorgeous to watch. And OMG, it’s hot! So, so hot. The sex is frequent and descriptive, and a little bit kinky, and is written in a way where it demonstrates the emotional connection between the characters, and I really like that.

But Cash’s ex hasn’t faded into the background just yet, and she is determined to cause trouble for the couple. OMG, this woman is a crazy psycho-bitch! I want to hurt her so badly! But Cash handles the situation beautifully and thankfully he and Lilly don’t let her antics come between them.

The whole family is a big part of the story. They are understandably protective of Cash after all that he’s been through with his ex, so they are wary of him starting up something new, and I loved watching the way his brothers all had his back. But at the same time, they welcome Lilly and Ashlyn into the family, and I loved the scenes where all of the family are together – especially because we get some progression for both of the other couples, as well as a bit of a lead in to Nico’s story. And OMG, Lilly’s parents are hilarious! Her Dad meeting Cash over skype dressed in his hunting gear and holding a rifle was absolute gold!

I really enjoyed this read. Great characters, a beautiful second-chance romance, lots of sexy time, some humour and brilliant family dynamics. These books are building into a great series, and I’m really excited to carry on.

4 stars.
