Another 5 fabulous stars for the Lords of Deliverance! This book is definitely my favourite so far!

The end of the world is still underway. Evil Horseman Pestilence has – according to Hades – gone “serial-killer fucktwat insane”, demons are on the loose and the rest of the supernatural world is starting to join in and there is chaos, devastation and MAJOR betrayal as everything starts to fall apart. The Horsemen, their partners, and the entire Demonica crew are all on board for the action, which is pretty much non-stop the whole way through, and it is absolutely EPIC!!!

My review is a little bit spoilery, but doesn’t give away any plot details that aren’t revealed by the synopsis, so read at your own risk!

Thanatos is the Fourth Horseman of the Apocalypse, and throughout the series has been my favourite. He is a bit mysterious, and I LOVED getting the chance to be inside his head again, but this time getting his full story. As the Horseman who will become Death if his Seal is broken and he turns evil, he is probably the most dangerous of his siblings, but he is also very understated. There is a gentleness and vulnerability about him, but he’s also badass when he wants to be, has a brilliant sarcastic wit, and is fiercely protective of his family.

The book begins with Thanatos waking after being kept paralysed for eight months and, justifiably, he is PISSED! I loved seeing him all angry and badass, and seeking revenge for Regan’s betrayal of him in the last book. And then he discovers her big secret – she’s carrying his child – conceived during their one night together at the order of the Aegis who found a prophecy indicating that the child could be the key to preventing the Apocalypse. Still mad as hell, he takes her back to his house to keep her there until the child is born, and to take his revenge. For despite her devastating betrayal, he still wants her.

“I was a virgin before you. You woke a sleeping demon, Regan. I tried to sate it myself, but failed. Now you’re going to deal with the consequences.”

But there’s a huge shift for him as the reality of the situation sinks in, and he realises this could be his chance for the family he has longed for.

He’d long ago given up on the idea that he’d ever have a child, but while the dream had died, the longing hadn’t.
Now his dream had risen from the dead, and he wasn’t going to let it slip through his fingers.

For her part, Regan is still a hard-headed Aegis warrior, doing her thing to save the world. But carrying her child has softened her, and then Thanatos starts to soften her some more. They started to fall for each other in the last book, and being back under the same roof, sparks fly, there is some sensational banter, and as the truth comes out, and they start to open up to each other, they both fall hard. Oh, and did I mention hotness? Yeah, there’s hotness!

I love these two together! Thanatos is absolutely INCREDIBLE! The way he cares for Regan, his tenderness and his protectiveness of her and their unborn child is just beautiful! And for Regan’s part, she is there for Than when he needs her – she helps him through his rage, and is understanding when his deepest shame is revealed. Yeah, they had a somewhat questionable beginning, but their feelings for each other are strong, and together they learn to open up, be honest with each other, and trust each other, and watching them fall in love was gorgeous!

“I love you” he whispered against her lips. “I want you. I didn’t see you coming. You blindsided me, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

SWOOOOOOOOOOOOOON!!!

I read this book in one sitting and was mesmerised from start to finish. I laughed, I cried, I swooned, and once again, I was blown away by the intricacies of the story, and how everything comes together. I can’t wait for more!

Larissa Ione, your writing, and your amazing story has totally rocked my world. I bow down at your feet.

5 epic stars!
