This was a great follow up to Here Be Sexist Vampires, and I am really enjoying this series! It actually has a bit of a Night Huntress vibe to it – a hot vampire couple (both Alphas and full of attitude) in a loving, committed relationship, taking on the bad guys with their trusted inner circle of powerful, sarcastic vamps by their sides.

There are a few plotlines intertwined in this one, but thank God, there is no relationship drama. Sam and Jared are still very much in love, and are very committed to each other, and are preparing for their upcoming Binding Ceremony. This comes with all sorts of vampire celebrations and politics and Sam is supposed to be winning over the Master Vampires who don’t exactly approve of her as the life partner for their beloved heir, but she has no intention of sucking up to anybody, and is not afraid to let her inner bitch shine.

Jared’s psycho-bitch ex-lover and sire makes an appearance to try and cause havoc, there are deep family secrets to uncover, the squad is also investigating a devastating smuggling ring, and in another twist, Sam has been ‘attacked’ by vampires with freaky powers that have a massive impact on her and her abilities, and causes repercussions on everything else that is happening in her life.

With all of that going on, plus the never ending parties and preparations in the lead up to the Ceremony, the story moves at a great pace, and I didn’t want to put the book down.

Sam and Jared are a great couple. Their chemistry is still insane, and with Sam’s kickass attitude, and Jared’s Alpha protectiveness, there are a lot of opportunities for sparks to fly between them – and they do – but their bond is strong, and their love for each other is never in doubt.

“Since the first night I met you, you’ve had me messed up. You’re my weakness – pure and simple. But you’re also the only thing I really couldn’t live without.”

Full of smart one-liners, laugh out loud moments, lots of action, gorgeously swoony romance and some hot-as-hell sexy time, it’s all win really. There is a gorgeously happy ending (no cliffy again!), and pretty much all of the storylines are tied off. Although I foresee a possible continuation of the series with storylines developing for at least two side characters – including the fabulous Evan. I will definitely be keeping my eye out for more.

I loved it. 4 stars.
