Megan is Aidan’s niece. She is a single mother who is working hard to create a life for her and her 15 month old son, Mason. She is smart, no-nonsense, and not afraid to go after what she wants. I really like her.

Pesh is the doctor that Emma dated briefly in The Proposal. Now if, like me, you were immensely irritated by that particular storyline, please don’t judge Pesh for it! Emma was the stupid one, Pesh got caught up in a situation he knew nothing about! Pesh is actually fantastic! Nicknamed “Dr Dreamy McBollywood”, he’s a good guy, and such a gentleman! Respectful, kind, caring, and intelligent, he’s gorgeously sexy but also emotional, and isn’t afraid to let people know how he is feeling. Still grieving the death of his wife two years ago, he is struggling to re-enter the dating world, but he’s brave enough to follow his heart, I really love that about him.

Megan and Pesh meet when, in a somewhat strange move, Aidan and Emma ask Pesh to be the godfather to their son, Noah. I must say, I thought this was a pretty weird way to bring him back into the story. Surely there was somebody closer to them that they could have chosen?! It is explained why Pesh was chosen, and even though it’s all very sweet, I still though it was strange. But I could get over it. Especially because Megan is to be Noah’s godmother, so it gives us a very nice set up to their first meeting.

Megan and Pesh are attracted to each other from the very beginning. The conversation and banter is easy, honest and witty, and had me smiling like a loon. And, in true Pesh form, he lets his feelings be known and puts it all out there for Megan very early on.

“Got a hero complex, huh? Wanna be every woman’s knight in shining armor?”
“Not every woman’s,” he murmured.
“Mmm, Pesh, you wanna be my knight in shining armor?” As soon as the words left her lips, she fought the urge to slap her hand over her mouth. Alcohol always had this effect on her-it left her completely without a sensor.
Pesh’s jaw clenched, and he didn’t reply. Pitching her upper body over the armrest, she got as close to him as she could. “You didn’t answer my question.”
Taking his eyes momentarily off the road, he pinned her with an intense gaze. “I’d be anything and everything you wanted me to be, if you would give me the chance.”

Oh swoon!

The only problem is, Megan is not interested in a relationship. At 25, she is considerably younger than 37 year old Pesh, and having the last few years first pregnant and then looking after her son, she wants easy, no strings, fun (ie. sex). And she wants it with Pesh. But he wants so much more from her, and is not the type of guy to dive into something without getting his heart involved, and you’ve gotta respect him for wanting to do what he feels is right – for him and for Megan.

“If I take you, I’ll be making love to you. I’ll have you begging and pleading, but you’ll be coming so many times you’ll lose count. You’ll understand the difference between a quick tumble and the all-consuming power of a physical connection fueled by an emotional one.”
She rapidly blinked her blue eyes in disbelief while her cheeks flushed. “Oh God, did you actually just say that?”
“I did.” He gave her a teasing smile. “And you’ll be calling out my name more than his.”

Unwilling to compromise what they want, they hit a stalemate, but they have a continued presence in each other’s lives, and the feelings between them continue to grow as the UST hits dangerous levels. And behind Pesh’s gentlemanly nature, the hint of a sexy alpha is always there behind his actions and his words, and when he lets it loose…. phew!

“You’re not the type of man to fuck,” she countered.
His brows shot up. “Oh really? I’m too nice of a guy?”
“Something like that.”
“I’m a man, Megan. We all have needs. Isn’t fucking one of them?”
Her body trembled slightly at his words. She licked her lips before replying, “S-Stop saying that word-it isn’t you.”
“So fucking isn’t me? Don’t tell me you think I’m totally asexual – that you can’t imagine me fucking a woman…fucking you.” He eased in closer to her. “We both know for a fact that you wanted nothing more than to fuck me the night of Noah’s baptism. Given the chance right now, you’d let me strip off your scrubs and fuck you up against the medicine cabinet.”

Ummmm… yeah. Pesh is hot. Like… really hot! But, just like he promised, you can feel the emotional connection between them as well, and it makes it all so much more intense.

“Let me give you this pleasure. I want nothing more than to see you come apart.”

With the story told in dual POV, we get to follow both Megan and Pesh on their emotional journeys as they try to live without each other, and then finally decide that they can’t. The timeline moves quickly, so we get to see different stages of their relationship – from friendship which slowly develops into a romance, through milestones and special little moments that had me swooning at the emotional declarations, or grinning at the sweetness of it all, and, as I said, it’s all drama free as Pesh and Megan’s relationship grows, deepens, and becomes something incredibly special.

I love how Mason is included as a part of the story. His relationship with Pesh is absolutely gorgeous, and had me clutching my heart on multiple occasions. The book is so much more than just Pesh and Megan coming together, family is a really big theme too, and Mason and both of their families feature strongly in their story.

There is also a fair bit of Aidan and Emma, which I loved! Aidan is still so funny, and pretty much every time he appears in the book he made me laugh. His relationship with Megan is beautiful, and I like how he and Pesh start to become close. And, of course, he and Emma are still a fantastic couple, I loved every scene that included them, and their story progresses beautifully.

This is a really sweet read, perfect for fans of the series, but could probably also be read as a standalone if you wanted to (although I loved the first two books and don’t recommend skipping them). There’s no real storyline outside of the relationship, and there were moments towards the end of the book where it was leaning towards the overly-sappy side of things, but I’d rather take that than unnecessary drama and stupid conflict. There’s a sensational epilogue which finishes off not only Megan and Pesh’s story, but also Aidan and Emma’s, and it’s absolutely beautiful.

I really enjoyed it – 4 stars.

The Proposition series

<img data-recalc-dims="1"
