It’s a story about two broken characters finding a second chance at love and I loved it!

Andrea is learning to navigate life without the one person she thought would be her forever. Her current situation is completely different from what she expected it would be six months earlier and she is lost and broken, working a job that she’d never even consider before everything changed one tragic night.

Cooper never imagined his life would crumble after hearing “I’m pregnant” from his wife. What should have been a joyous revelation was the opposite when he knows it’s another man’s baby. His heart broken, he goes on a bender and unfortunately because of his fame, the paparazzi has a field day with it.

Andrea and Cooper knew each other from their younger years and they never expected running into each other at a strip club of all places. Catching up seems to be the exact thing each needs and they slowly open up to each other. As they grow closer, Andrea finds herself having feelings she thought she wouldn’t and shouldn’t ever have again. When they are together they offer each other a bit of reprieve from their pasts.

“For the first time in a long time… last night… for a small bit of a moment, I didn’t feel like constantly dying.”

Wanting nothing more than to numb the pain, they decide to explore it further.

“Andrea. Over here is Chaos. Which we both know pretty well. And over here…” The right hand index finger flew up. “Over here is Order. I’m gonna assume both of us are pretty damn far from Order, yet we’ve already hit rock bottom Chaos. So how about we just explore the space in between the two?”
The space in between. The place where we wouldn’t have to talk about the past or worry about the future. The place where we didn’t get personal or talk about our dreams and fears. The place where any level of affection and tenderness was simply a way to forget about past hurts. A type of drug that drowned out the rest of the world. I could do the space in between.

Their arrangement offers an escape from the pain, reality, heartbreak, and demons they are dealing with every day. Both broken, they try hard to move on as they go from chaos to order but it proves to be difficult especially when outside forces are against them. Fight as they may for a future with each other, how can they be together when they still need to heal their own hearts?

“I’ll be better tomorrow,” she promised.
Leaning against the door frame, I shook my head. “No you won’t. But that’s okay… I’ll wait.”
She sighed, shifting around the bed sheets. “For how long?”
I could tell she thought she had run me off, but I wasn’t going anywhere…”How long will I wait? Take forever and multiple it by infinity. And then I’ll wait some more.”

I really enjoyed The Space in Between. The writing flows easily and keeps you invested the through the whole book. Andrea has gone through a tragedy that ripped out her heart and left me feeling heartbroken for her. Her pain and the feelings she went through were realistic and I felt them completely. I really liked Andrea and I wanted so much for her to heal.

Cooper was such a wonderful hero. He was sweet, sexy, caring, and patient. My heart broke for Cooper when he heard the two words that could have made him happy but instead torn him apart and it was painful to watch him go through the emotions he was feeling. I was so angry with his wife and what she put him through. I wanted nothing more than to have him healed and loved completely.

Andrea and Cooper were wonderful together. They helped each other as much as they could and I loved that they knew when they had to heal on their own too. I loved the support they gave and how they each knew what the other needed. The relationship was realistic and I loved watching them fall in love and finally move on.

“I was wondering what it would be like, too.”
“What’s that?” I asked, looking into his beautiful eyes. I chose to only blink whenever he did, just so I wouldn’t miss those eyes staring into mine.
“Moving on.” He kissed the tip of my nose and closed his eyes. For the first time in a long time, I wasn’t sad anymore. I didn’t have this ever growing numbness to my soul. I wasn’t emptied inside.
I could feel again.

Buy: Kindle Ebook | Paperback Review 4.5 “Soda pop” stars!
