It\u2019s been around a month since I read this, but now that I\u2019ve continued on with the series I went back to this, the first book, to do a flick through the highlights and ended up reading the whole thing again! It\u2019s an incredible start to the MOST incredible series!!<\/p>\n

So this is where it all started\u2026<\/p>\n

Indy is a Rock Chick goddess. Full of attitude and in love with Lee Nightingale since she was 5 years old (who can blame her???). However 10 years ago he broke her heart and she decided to move on with her life and has spent the last decade trying to ignore him.<\/p>\n

Lee is, of course, a smoking-hot-badass-Alpha. He\u2019s a straight-talker, and has secretly loved Indy all along (his reason for not acting on it before now is actually pretty solid). But now that he has decided to make his move, he is alarmingly honest with her and reveals his intentions early on:<\/p>\n

\u201cI do this thing for Rosie, you sleep with me”
\nI stared at him, open-mouthed and in stunned silence.
\nI did, of course, understand what he meant but he explained further.
\n“Not like last night, we’ll both be naked and sexual acts will be performed.”
\nMy expression didn’t change except maybe my mouth opened wider.
\n“I’ll expect your participation.”
\nHoly shit.
\n“Your avid participation.”
\nDear Lord in Heaven.
\nEventually, I whispered, “You must be joking.”
\nHe shook his head and watched me.
\nI dropped my eyes, unable to hold his stare.
\n“I think I need more coffee,” I told his throat.\u201d <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

He makes no apologies for what he feels and what he wants from Indy and he brings her into his life, getting straight into \u201cthe relationship stuff\u201d<\/i> from the very beginning (and he\u2019s so good at it!). The man does not play games, and WE LOVE HIM FOR IT!!!<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we have here is good and if you\u2019d get over your thoughts that it isn\u2019t gonna last, you\u2019d realise how much better it\u2019s gonna get if you\u2019d just relax.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And it just gets better from there\u2026 *alpha swoon*

\u201cFor what it\u2019s worth, I\u2019ll share my intentions. You and me, we aren\u2019t practice for the real thing. It isn\u2019t that too much is at stake with family and friends, it\u2019s because I love you. You\u2019re funny, beautiful and you care about people. I like the way you look at me, especially when you think I don\u2019t notice it. I like that we have history and our kids will have a big family and share that history because there was never a time when their Mom and Dad weren\u2019t together. If you were a terrible lay, I might have second thoughts but you and I are dynamite together. I intend to marry you and spend the rest of my life with you. If that freaks you out, tough, because now we\u2019ve started this, there\u2019s no goin\u2019 back.\u201d \u2026 \u201cYou want to marry me?\u201d \u201cNo. I\u2019m gonna marry you.\u201d

Laugh-out-loud funny, there is also plenty of action in this one and a great introduction to some of the key players in the rest of the series. In fact it only shows me how brilliant Ms Ashley is that despite how good this book is, the series just keeps getting better as she so easily weaves in all of the additional characters in later books.<\/p>\n

Originally I only gave it 4 stars. On the re-read though it\u2019s being promoted up to 5 star status! I don\u2019t know if it\u2019s because I love the characters so much more, or if I was high the first time I read it, but nevertheless, a 5 star read it is!<\/p>\n
