Review<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Holy damn, what a ride!<\/strong><\/p>\n

One word to describe this book: INTENSE! From start to finish, it\u2019s a non-stop adrenaline rush that is brutal, violent and, not gonna lie, downright disturbing. But wow, what an ending to a gritty story that has held me captivated since I devoured part 1, Junkie.<\/p>\n

I\u2019m not going to go into too much detail about the story, but this book picks up immediately after that brutal cliffy from Junkie<\/em>. Again the story is told in dual POV so we know everything that is going on as Miri and Jagger are put through hell as Jag\u2019s war against his enemies continues to build in intensity, and oh holy God! There\u2019s barely a moment to breathe as it all plays out. Action-packed, violent and so, so intense, so much happens and I love that Leigh kept me on my toes as I was wondering what was going to happen next and how it was all going to unfold.<\/p>\n

Full disclosure here \u2013 parts of this book may be difficult to read. Leigh holds nothing back in showing us just how vicious Jagger\u2019s world is, and the violence, language and brutality is descriptive, emotive, and shocking at times. But in this sort of book you have to expect that, and it adds a sinister sort of feel to everything, creating a great sense of mood that sucks you even more into the story.<\/p>\n

And at the middle of it all is Miri and Jagger. Two damaged people who found something special together and who are trying desperately to hold on to it. The connection between them continues to build, and I loved every moment of them together \u2013 hot, passionate, surprisingly romantic and again, intense, their love story is a wonderful contrast to the darkness of their lives. I so admired their strength (Miri especially) as they endure pain, terror and torment, and their development as characters was wonderfully written.<\/p>\n

My scars were mine and yes, they represented how far I had to sink before finding the strength to emerge into the light. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Parts of the story are predictable but there are some definite surprises \u2013 good and bad \u2013 and my heart was racing while I read this one, I could not put it down. The book finishes well with an epilogue which provides great closure, and I finished this book with a sense of accomplishment that I survived such an ordeal!<\/p>\n

This duet is a great read if you\u2019re in the mood for dark and gritty (with a side of sexy) and heartfelt emotion woven throughout. It\u2019s my first read by this author and I\u2019m really impressed with the story she told and the world she was able to create, I\u2019m looking forward to checking out more of her work.<\/p>\n

I loved it \u2013 4 stars.<\/p>\n
