HOLY FREAKING AWESOMENESS!!!!! SO MUCH AWESOME!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n

I freaking LOVED this book! It had everything I wanted, and more! Daemon, Katy, Daemon\u00a0and<\/em>\u00a0Katy, banter, swoon, Daemon, action, laughs, tears and Daemon. Squeeeee!<\/p>\n

I\u2019m keeping my review deliberately vague though because it\u2019s really hard not to be spoilery. It\u2019s one of those books where lots happens, and I think it\u2019s best to go in blind and enjoy the ride.<\/p>\n

Onyx picks up pretty much immediately after the events of\u00a0Obsidian<\/a>, with Katy going through some pretty serious after-effects of that dramatic finale. At the same time, she has one very determined alien on her hands who wants her and won\u2019t seem to take no for an answer (lucky girl!). The sexual tension between Katy and Daemon is still sizzling, and again, there is some sensational banter as the two of them back-and-forth. Although this time around Daemon is right out there with his feelings and makes his intentions painfully obvious to all – which is both hilarious and swoony. They do manage to get some kisses in here and there, and those scenes are explosive (literally!). But as hot, swoony, and snark-filled as this storyline is, it does drag on for a bit with some stupidity on Katy\u2019s part, but because the rest of the book is so awesome, it didn\u2019t really bother me that much.<\/p>\n

I adore both Daemon and Katy, and they both undergo some pretty significant changes in this book. The gloriously arrogant and sarcastic Daemon reveals more of his softer side that was hinted at in Obsidian, and Katy gets a bit of badass happening, which I loved! They also get to know each other more, finally becoming friends and learning how to be together and be there for each other without all of the chemistry overshadowing everything. But when they do give into that chemistry\u2026 HOT DAMN!!!<\/p>\n

There\u2019s a whole new storyline introduced which had the conspiracy theorist in me trying to figure out exactly what was going on and how everything pieced together. There was twist after twist \u2013 some predictable, some that came as a total shocker, and I loved every minute of it!! There are hints at where the series will go from here, and I\u2019m really intrigued at the direction that it\u2019s taking.<\/p>\n

The pacing of the book is perfect. I was gripped from the first page and read it in one sitting, completely unable to put it down (seriously, I reheated leftovers for dinner and then ate one-handed with my book in the other). It\u2019s a bit of a wild ride, and my emotions were running high through the whole book. I had a huge sense of anticipation through the whole thing \u2013 will Daemon and Katy get together, what happened to Dawson and Bethany, who is the bad guy? I laughed, cheered, swooned, and squeed out loud, and then I\u2019d be slapped by an OMG moment that had me swearing out loud. And that ending! OMG that ending! I was literally on the edge of my seat. Action, suspense, more big reveals and then the tears came\u2026 OMG the tears! And then I was picked up and dragged back into awesomeness again, then more OMG, more swoon, more squee, and more awesome. What a freaking rollercoaster!<\/p>\n

With all of the emotion, character development and plot twisting going on, this book is even more amazing than Obsidian. I absolutely loved it and cannot WAIT for Opal in December.<\/p>\n
