Caleb Blackstone is a highly successful businessman. He comes from money, but he has built his own empire and is a billionaire with the world at his feet, and a long line of women willing to bed him. He has indulged, of course, but he\u2019s never met anybody who he can see himself having an actual relationship with. But with one look (ok, maybe two) at Brooke Casterley he is enamored.<\/p>\n

Brooke\u2019s world couldn\u2019t be more different from Caleb\u2019s. She has overcome a lot in her life, has been treated badly and suffered devastating loss, but she has pulled through to become a strong, independent woman. Her life isn\u2019t easy and she is working two jobs to support herself and her beloved grandmother, but she is happy with where she is at. This is an incredibly intense love story. It\u2019s fast moving, passionate and full of emotion, and even though Brooke has reservations after being hurt so badly in the past, she trusts her feelings, and she trusts Caleb, and I love that they both just throw themselves into everything that is happening between them. Yes, there is some insta-love going on, but I was completely swept up in Caleb\u2019s love for Brooke. Protective, possessive, and determined to get his girl, yet sweet, gentle and tender, he was exactly the man that Brooke needed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you, Brooke, for accepting my invitation to stay here tonight,\u201d I whispered against her lips \u2026 \u201cAnd for giving me the chance to deserve you whenever you\u2019re ready.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And the swoon! OMG, the swoon is off the freaking charts. Caleb loves his girl and he wants her, and the world to know it. He puts his heart on his sleeve, holding nothing back from her about his feelings or his intentions, and his openness with her was beautiful.<\/p>\n

And the gentlemanly charm that sweeps Brooke off her feet is wonderfully balanced by the dirty-talking sex god that comes out when he and Brooke are alone together. Raine Miller can certainly write a hot love scene, and the steamy time between Caleb and Brooke is absolutely sizzling!<\/p>\n

And SO freaking HOT!!!<\/p>\n

Caleb and Brooke\u2019s relationship moves quickly, but I was happily caught up in the romance of it all, and thoroughly enjoyed their story. They have obstacles to overcome, but they remain functional and open with each other through it all, with no game playing, no stupid dramas, just two people who are falling hard for each other, and who follow their hearts to a beautifully happy ending.<\/p>\n

I loved the introduction to Caleb\u2019s family and close friends, and I\u2019m really excited about some of the set ups that are already taking shape. I\u2019m definitely going to be continuing on with the series to get my hands on the books to come!<\/p>\n

This was a really great read. A wonderful, fairy-tale romance backed up by a strong, passionate love story to easily lose yourself in. I loved it.<\/p>\n

I would give this thing two drinks max before I was outie.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nodding and saying the right things, I shook hands with the colleagues who\u2019d known my father and accepted condolences from others. I made a mental note of the people who\u2019d made the effort to mention his name to me, and I would write them down with the event and date as soon as I got home.<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019d worked my way through the room, as I had been taught by my dad\u2014by the best to ever work a roomful of potential deals\u2014when I decided I\u2019d accomplished what I\u2019d set out to do tonight. It was time for me to go. After setting my glass down on an empty table, I started for the door . . . until I saw <\/span>her<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Just like that. She appeared in my line of sight and I couldn\u2019t take my eyes off her.<\/span><\/p>\n

The beautiful girl from this morning at the Starbucks on Hereford Street.<\/span><\/p>\n

I knew it was her because how could anyone forget those sexy boots? Her blonde hair wasn\u2019t down like it had been this morning, though. She\u2019d pulled it back into a sleek ponytail . . . but she was serving at this event? I\u2019d seen her go into that design studio next to Starbucks. She probably had two jobs. Industrious . . . beautiful . . . sexy.<\/span><\/p>\n

I quickly returned for my half-empty glass and snatched it up from the table. I suddenly felt like an appetizer or two.<\/span><\/p>\n

She saw me approaching and moved closer with her tray. \u201cWhat are these called?\u201d I asked without sparing her tray a second glance. Bad move on my part, but I was too busy taking in her golden eyes and hair, and everything else I could now see up close. Perfect skin, dark lashes that framed spectacular eyes, and a scar along the hairline of the right side of her face. Something had hurt her at some point in the past, and I found it utterly insane that I was disturbed by it.<\/span><\/p>\n

She rolled her pink lips together as if she was trying to suppress laughter. \u201cWell, they\u2019ve told me it\u2019s something called a . . . <\/span>meatball<\/span><\/i>. Very unusual gourmet creation. You should try one. They\u2019re said to be quite delicious.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

That voice of hers was . . . fucking beautiful.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cOkay.\u201d I picked up a meatball and popped it in my mouth. Didn\u2019t taste a thing. I could have been chewing slaughterhouse by-products and I wouldn\u2019t have known. My brain had shut off everything except her beautiful voice.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou are either messing with me or that blow to your head must have been devastating. I would wager you\u2019ve had a meatball before.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI am.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She lost her smile. \u201cYou are messing with me?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cNo, I am devastating\u2014I mean <\/span>devastated<\/span><\/i>\u2014by the blow to my head.\u201d What in the mother fuck was I even saying to this girl? I sounded like Rain Man minus the IQ. I needed to stop talking.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sorry to hear that. It looks painful.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt doesn\u2019t hurt me now.\u201d I think I smiled and shook my head but couldn\u2019t be sure. Just call me the village idiot because I knew I was acting like one. I did love the sound of her voice, though.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnother rare and precious meatball?\u201d She offered her tray and studied me this time. She had to be disgusted by my appearance and turned off by my behavior, but she didn\u2019t show it if she was.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYes, please.\u201d I took another meatball but I didn\u2019t eat it. \u201cYou are British.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou are American,\u201d she said with a fast wink, before turning away to serve other guests.<\/span><\/p>\n

I watched her walk away from me and felt the pounding of my heart vibrating throughout my entire body.<\/span><\/p>\n

Something had just happened to me.<\/span><\/p>\n

I wasn\u2019t completely sure what exactly, but I was crystal clear on the reason.<\/span><\/p>\n
