3 “Forever” Stars<\/p>\n

Harley & Rose is the first book I have read by Carmen Jenner. Her writing flows beautifully and can make you feel so many intense emotions at once. I don’t even know where to start. I went into this book basically blind, only knowing it’s a friends-to-lover story. While reading this book, I smiled, I cried, I laughed, and I screamed. I was angry, frustrated, hurting, and happy, smiling, swooning all at the same time. I am gutted. I did not expect this book to affect me the way it has and I am still reeling over it. I cannot stop thinking about this story.<\/p>\n

Harley and Rose have been best friends since they were five years old, and though Rose fights her feelings, she has been in love with Harley for years. After Harley gets left at the alter by his cheating fianc\u00e9e, he convinces Rose to join him on his honeymoon. Here we start to see the story unfold.\u00a0 There is so much more to their relationship than meets the eye.<\/p>\n

Harley and I are complicated. We\u2019ve always been complicated. From the day we met it\u2019s been our thing, or maybe it has always been simple and we\u2019ve been the ones to twist it, turn it on its head and convolute what the rest of the world has already seen. All I know is that there isn\u2019t a Rose without Harley or a Harley without Rose.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Their relationship is complex and not always a happy one. The pain laced in Rose\u2019s voice told me that something happened between them and I was left desperately wanted to know what. I loved that we get more of the story through the flash back chapters and when everything came to light, my heart bled. Their story shouldn’t be so painful but it is and I felt the pain right alongside Rose and Harley.<\/p>\n

Somewhere along the way we became different people. We changed. Not for the better, not the worse – we just changed. We grew up. The boy who never wanted to grow up did. And it came at the cost of everything we were. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I found myself with an ever increasing ache inside me the more I read. I felt down deep that their story wasn’t over. That something was going to happen to rip my heart into pieces. Something I did not see coming. And boy did Carmen deliver. I am gutted.<\/p>\n

This book made me feel everything.\u00a0 The moments where Harley made me swoon set my heart aflutter. The moments that broke it left tears streaming down my face. I was hot and flushed at times and I was cold and shaking at other times. I felt love, frustration, happiness, sadness, and was broken, praying that the last pages would heal my heart.<\/p>\n

If a book can make me feel so much, you may wonder why I am not rating it higher. There was some drama that I didn\u2019t love and a lot of times I wanted to smack Harley, for things done in the past and things done in the present. Rose was not without fault either and I wanted to shake her for some of her actions. Both made decisions that broke the other and there were so many times that they could have made better decisions.<\/p>\n

Overall this book pulled more emotion from me than I would have expected. My stomach twisted the whole book, my heart beat double time just waiting for the other shoe to drop. And when it did, I cried. I cried so hard. They were a mix of happy and sad tears, and I didn’t want this story to end. I wanted more. So much more. And now I need to take a breath and compose myself because life goes on. Even after a book guts you.<\/p>\n
