I am loving this series! For some stupid, crazy reason I didn\u2019t think I\u2019d like it as much as the other KA series that I\u2019ve read. I realise now that I must have been high because The \u2018Burg books absolutely ROCK!<\/p>\n

Violet is a widowed, but inspiringly strong and confident, mother of two teenage girls. She moves to The \u2018Burg to get a fresh start and escape the freaky stalker who murdered her cop husband 18 months ago. Of course she moves in next door to the mysterious and insanely sexy Joe \u2018Cal\u2019 Callahan (*shiver*). Vi and Joe very quickly start up an intense \u2018booty call\u2019 arrangement that is off-the-charts steamy. Of course Violet feels more for Joe, and the two of them carry along happily until Joe realises that he\u2019s fallen for her too and, in a hideous (but intentional) asshole-ish move, he breaks Violet\u2019s heart.<\/p>\n

Joe\u2019s background is definitely a tragic one, and I understand him wanting to keep his distance, but I just loved his turn around when he decided that Violet had gotten under his skin, and he couldn\u2019t be without her anymore.<\/p>\n

Jesus, he wasn\u2019t a dick, he was an asshole and he had some serious fucking work to do.\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In usual KA fashion, Joe comes barging back into Violet\u2019s life just at the time she, and her girls, need him the most – OMG, talk about tragic! I cried through pages and pages in the middle of this book! But Joe is there through it all and begins the fight for \u2018his girls\u2019.<\/p>\n

“You\u2019re mine, the girls are mine. I\u2019m stakin\u2019 my claim with you right now and, you force it, I\u2019ll do it with him too.”<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Oh yes, there is the little matter of the love triangle. While Joe was off being an asshole, Violet has hooked up with the gorgeously swoony cop, Mike Haines. This adds an interesting twist, and I loved the way it all played out.<\/p>\n

\u201cViolet, there a reason Joe Callahan is lookin’ at me like he wants to rip my head off?\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Hahaha, I love this line!! It doesn’t actually get that nasty, and the face off between the guys is fantastic<\/span>.\u00a0 But we all knew poor Mike never really stood a chance \ud83d\ude41 Bring on book 4!!!<\/p>\n

One of the things I love about KA books is that they don\u2019t end when the hero and heroine get together, with the promise of the happy ending. She follows them through and actually shows you the happy ending, with them living their life together. The scenes with Joe and Vi together with her amazing girls are beautifully written. We get to see Joe accepted and enfolded into their family, and easily slip right into to the father-figure role (while still respecting the memory of their deceased husband\/father). The relationship that he builds with Vi\u2019s daughters Kate and Keira was one of my favourite parts of the story.<\/p>\n

“Told her she needs to look at her Mom and learn. You had three men in your life, all of ’em willin’ to hand you the world. She should accept nothin’ less.”\u00a0<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There\u2019s lots of Colt and Feb from\u00a0For You\u00a0in this book, and it was sensational seeing how their story progressed beyond their book! We are also introduced to some very interesting new characters – the oh-so-swoony Mike Haines, and hotter-than-hot Benny and the very sassy Frankie (who are quite the volatile couple-in-waiting!) \u2013 can\u2019t wait for their stories!<\/p>\n

This all builds up to a very dramatic and exciting ending where we get to see Joe in all of his badass-glory (squee!). And to finish off we even get a little glimpse into the future of Joe and Violet in the final chapter, and it is very sweet!<\/p>\n

Overall, I absolutely loved this book, and can\u2019t wait for more from The \u2018Burg. Brilliant!!<\/p>\n
