Preppy is back and Holy Hell did this book put me through the wringer.\u00a0 It is the fifth book in the King series and really should be read as such. His introduction in King gave us little glimpses\u00a0into who Preppy is and he intrigued me from the moment I met him. I was ecstatic to learn he was getting his own story, and I knew it would be dark and gritty, sexy and hot, but OMG it is so much more, and this is only part one! The intense emotions I\u00a0felt while reading this book\u00a0had me\u00a0on edge, crying out in heartache, screaming in rage,\u00a0swooning like crazy, and left me desperately wanting more. So. Much. More.<\/p>\n

Preppy is a complete enigma. He is so proper and polite, yet he is a downright twisted badass with a bow tie.<\/p>\n

\u201cLife\u2019s too short to pretend to be anyone else. I\u2019m just me. I say what I want to fucking say. I do what I want to do and I don\u2019t fucking apologize for it.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

What can sicken him in an instant can turn him on at the same time.\u00a0He is honest, blunt, sexy, and charming when he wants to be, but there is a\u00a0“spark of evil living behind his cocky smile.”<\/em>\u00a0He can also be so inappropriate at times but because he is Preppy you accept it.\u00a0He is loyal to his friends and the ones he calls family and he is as smart as they come. But he was not prepared for what happens when he first saves\u00a0Dre.<\/p>\n

Dre is a junkie wishing for a better life. She does despicable things for the drug that constantly calls to her. She has made so many mistakes in her life after tragedy struck and her life went into a downward spiral. Her last job placed her at her grandmother\u2019s house when everything went to shit. Full of regret, pain, guilt, and disgust, she is ready to end everything.<\/p>\n

Mirna is Dre\u2019s grandmother. She is the same Mirna that houses a Granny Growhouse operation that Preppy oversees and the one that Preppy is checking on which inevitably puts Dre in his path.<\/p>\n

I\u2019d thought I\u2019d known true fear when I\u2019d stood on the ledge and decided to recklessly end it all, but I hadn\u2019t.
\n\u2026
\nNo.
\nI never knew true fear until I met pure evil.
\nHe wore a smile and a bow tie. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There is pull between Dre and Preppy that they themselves do not understand. Dre has got Preppy doing things he wouldn’t normally do for reasons unknown to\u00a0him.\u00a0Confusion swirls in their heads, wanting but not wanting each other. That one\u00a0moment where Preppy laid eyes on Dre at her grandmother\u2019s house put them on a path and Preppy’ life will never be the same. Neither will Dre’s.<\/p>\n

Preppy, Part One is\u00a0a raw, gritty, harsh story that will shock your system. The jaw dropping nature of Preppy\u2019s story is not for the faint-hearted but it is so worth it. It is extreme, intense, insane, addictive and I loved every single bit of it!<\/p>\n

The banter between Dre and Preppy is epic and I loved watching their friendship bloom.\u00a0 The connection\u00a0between them\u00a0is intense; their chemistry\u00a0is intense and addictive. The push and pull is fantastic and Dre gives as good as she gets. She is the perfect person to balance out the craziness of Preppy and he is the person she needs to bring her back to life. When they are together\u00a0they\u00a0are explosive and I know there is going to be so much more to their story.<\/p>\n

Preppy is absolutely fantastic. I loved finally getting into his head and hearing his inner thoughts. \u00a0He is this complex character that is as hilarious as he is inappropriate. Preppy cracked me up while at the same time had\u00a0me picking up my chin off of the floor. Even when he was perverse, he was extremely fascinating. I loved that he understood Dre more than\u00a0she\u00a0could have ever known. His love was so strong that he knew he “couldn’t\u00a0keep her” <\/em>if he wanted a better life for her.<\/p>\n

She was the girl I was in love with.
\nThe girl I would always be in love with.
\nUntil my very last breath.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Even though Preppy is broken, he has a huge heart and cares so much for the people he considers his family that there isn’t a thing he wouldn’t do to help\u00a0and his loyalty was admirable. But he also has a taste for revenge and can be a nightmare if you cross him or the ones he loves.\u00a0My heart hurt when I heard about his awful childhood and I was sick to my stomach learning what he endured at such a young age. I knew it would be terrible and OMG it was. His strength to overcome everything was amazing. He fought the power of the past and tried hard to not let it get the best of him. But even the strongest individuals can fall and take the ones they love with them.<\/p>\n

All that was left in that room was me, Preppy, and the consequences of our little game.
\nA game neither of us had won.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I loved Dre.\u00a0She is this beautiful, snarky, stubborn woman who got mixed up in some stuff that lead her down an awful road. Addiction is so hard to overcome and Dre had her weak moments that made me devastated for what she was feeling. She truly wanted to get better but it is not easy to overcome and never truly leaves a person. It gets you in its grasp and doesn\u2019t let you go.<\/p>\n

With one little sniff, I remembered every touch, every taste, every euphoric feeling, almost like we\u2019d never been apart.
\nMy ex-lover, the only real lover I\u2019d ever had, was calling to me.
\nAnd the bitch\u2019s name was Heroin.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Reading about her struggles broke my heart and made tears stream down my face. These struggles were so well written; they were so real. But I loved her strength and her determination to get out of the grips of her addiction. I loved how fiercely she loved Preppy and that she wanted him for who he was, accepting the good and the bad, even if he had the power to “ruin” <\/em>her.<\/p>\n

He was an addiction. I craved him, and I wanted more.
\nBut just like heroin, the high was all a fucking lie. I believed her was good for me when in fact, he was worse than any drug.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Overall, I loved this book. It took turns I never saw coming and we are left with a twist at the end that shocked me speechless. T.M. Frazier is the queen of cliffhangers and WOW…this one has left me desperate for the next book.

We couldn\u2019t be together in this life. Maybe not even in the next. Who knows. My luck is pretty shit these days. But now when I think of you, which is still every fucking day, and when I can\u2019t cath my breath wondering what could\u2019ve been, I drag my ass outside, I sit in the yard, and I wait for it. That brief glimpse of the changing of the guard in the sky. And every day, even though the pain cuts just as deep as the day you left, even though I know the truth that I\u2019ll never see you again, I smile. <\/i><\/p>\n

Because you and I are there.<\/em><\/p>\n

And we\u2019ll always have the in-between.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

\u201cNo! I hate you,\u201d she spat, as I continued to tug her beside me.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGood, you can hate me while I fuck you,\u201d I said. \u201cBut first things first. My lesson obviously didn\u2019t take in that brain of yours. You want what you want and I can\u2019t stop you,\u201d I said, as we approached the train tracks which were elevated on a mound of gravel several feet off the ground. The warning lights flashed orange, the neon reflective barriers dropped down to cover the service road, while the bells indicating an approaching train clanged away. \u201cAnd since I can\u2019t stop you, I\u2019m going to help you out. Bullet in the head was so three hours ago. I\u2019ve got something even better in mind now.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWait. What?\u201d she asked, her teeth chattering. \u201cYou\u2026you wouldn\u2019t.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWouldn\u2019t what?\u201d I said, turning around to face her, almost losing my footing when I noticed the trail of dried tears on her cheeks. I looked away for a fraction of a second to regain my composure. \u201cYou think I wouldn\u2019t kill someone?\u201d I cocked an eyebrow. \u201cYou already know that I\u2019ve been there, done that, bought the motherfucking t-shirt, doll.\u201d Her eyes went wide and she made a move to step back. \u201cOh no, Doc, I read your letter and I saw what you wanted. And remember, I\u2019m nothing if not accommodating.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

When I pulled her to climb the gravel mound her knees locked up so I bent over and picked her up by the waist, tossing her over my shoulder, carrying her onto the tracks while she beat on my back with her closed fists. When I got to the top I set her down roughly and she fell backwards onto her ass, bracing herself with her hands against the large pieces of gravel under the tracks.<\/span><\/p>\n

The whistle of the train blew in the distance. It wouldn\u2019t be long now. Dre made a move to stand up, but that wasn\u2019t what I had in mind. I bent down and pushed on her chest, spreading her tiny frame across the tracks. I crawled on top of her, pinning her down with my thighs. I leaned over her, my chest to hers as we both breathed rapidly. She struggled underneath me to get up, pushing at my chest, but I wouldn\u2019t budge. \u201cWhy the struggle, Doc? This is what you wanted, isn\u2019t it?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She glanced up at me as the train whistled again. Her gaze flipped to her right, where the single yellow light from the train emerged from around the corner, shining brighter and brighter as it chugged closer and closer. For a moment she stopped struggling, looking back and forth from the train to me.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSo what, you\u2019re gonna die too?\u201d she asked, hoping to appeal to my sense of self preservation.<\/span><\/p>\n

I shrugged. \u201cI get bored easily, maybe the devil will make me his errand boy or something.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cPreppy, this isn\u2019t funny. Get up and get off the fucking tracks,\u201d she said, her concern shifting from herself to me.<\/span><\/p>\n

I shook my head and yawned. She wiggled underneath me, and although there was a train barreling toward us my cock once again stirred to life. Maybe I should just rip down her panties and push inside of her. Train or no train, it would be one fuck of a way to go out.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou have to choose, Doc,\u201d I said, making my voice as serious as I was capable. \u201cLife?\u201d I asked, screaming over the sound of the train screeching against the track. I pushed my hard cock against her core and she gasped. Her trembling turned into a shiver, her mouth fell open. I glanced to the side at the blinding light of the approaching train as it bathed us both in a tunnel of light. I leaned down, so close that my lips were a whisper above hers, as I shouted, \u201cLife? Or death? What\u2019s it gonna be, Doc?\u201d My hair blew around my face as the light grew brighter and brighter. \u201cAnswer the fucking question!\u201d I demanded, my hands squeezing her shoulders, my fingers digging roughly into her skin. \u201cDO YOU WANT TO FUCKING DIE?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

With only seconds left until we became shredded under the train, Dre closed her eyes and sighed. When she opened them again they were glistening, fresh tears spilling from the edges.<\/span><\/p>\n

She started to speak, her lips forming the beginning of the word, but before it could fully leave her lips I stood, pulling her up with me. I lifted Dre into my arms and took a running leap off the tracks, my legs flailing in the air as we fell the seven or so feet. Dre\u2019s decision still on her lips, her scream surrounding the air around us as we crashed down into the field.<\/span><\/p>\n
