It’s You (Book One)<\/em>\u00a0by Katy Regnery, writing as K.P. Kelley, is a paranormal romance and a major step outside of her usual genre. After reading this book, you would never know it was her first PNR! Fantastically written with an intriguing storyline, well-developed characters, intense emotion, and beautiful description, this book was captivating and entertaining from the very first page.<\/p>\n

Darcy Turner is thirty-five and plagued with a memory of a kiss from which she can’t move on.<\/p>\n

She only knew she wasn’t free from it, and one kiss, one moment, with one boy who she should have forgotten years ago had taken up way too much real estate in her head for way too long.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The story begins with Darcy trying to make sense of how a mere touch of lips when she was fifteen could affect her wholly and put her on a path that would change her life completely.<\/p>\n

Now a ghost from the past is back and Darcy wants answers. What happens when the boy who somehow attached\u00a0himself to her heart returns as a man and unexplainable things start happening to her?<\/p>\n

I really enjoyed the first book in the It’s You Duet<\/em><\/a>. There is a wonderful feel of mystery and magic surrounding the characters and story that leaves you aching for more. There is so much depth to the plot and every single detail is important. As the layers are pulled back everything becomes clear and I loved the order in which things were revealed.<\/p>\n

The anticipation and build-up of the first kiss was well-written and kicked off this story with a bang. I felt what Darcy and Jack felt in that moment and all the moments following until they were left with a longing so strong that it overwhelmed both of them.<\/p>\n

The connection between them is intense, passionate, and all-consuming. From just a brush of lips to full on sexy times, this book makes you experience the emotions that Darcy and Jack possess and the smoldering heat between them. The bond that links them is real and I loved them together.<\/p>\n

The characters are complex, well-written, and true to their nature throughout the book. Darcy is fantastic. She is beautiful, has a huge heart, and wants to believe the best in everyone. She is smart and tries to understand the mysteries surrounding her in a scientific way. When she\u00a0is\u00a0done fighting the inevitable, I loved that she started to trust what was happening around her.<\/p>\n

She knew deep in her heart it was almost certainly Jack, and Jack alone, who held the key to what was happening.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jack is mysterious, sexy, and charming. He is a total alpha but also has a bit of vulnerability that made him real. He has a protective streak towards Darcy and I loved it. He believed what was in his heart completely and his commitment to her was amazing.<\/p>\n

It didn’t matter how long he stayed away. His love for her was as constant as ever. Forever. For life.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Book One is divided into two parts. Part One, told in third person POV focusing on Darcy, is filled with wonderful description and is a nice set up to the story giving us hints to what is really going on. Part Two is told in third person POV as well but focuses on Jack’s side of the story and it was fantastic. It explains so much about Jack\u00a0and the past. The emotion and longing he\u00a0felt was astounding, and I completely understood why he did the things he did.<\/p>\n

I liked Part Two even better than the first. It was faster-paced and after staring it,\u00a0there was no way I could put it down; I read the rest of the book in one sitting. The ending, a cliffhanger that had my heart racing and my nerves all over the place, left me desperate for Book Two. Overall, this was an awesome start to the It’s You Duet and I cannot wait to get more of this magical story.<\/p>\n
