I’m here because of you.”

5 heart-clenching stars.

Stinger put Mia Sheridan on my insta-buy list, and this book cements her place there! Archer’s Voice is a beautiful and powerful story that had me hooked from the very beginning. I went in not knowing much about the storyline, and I fully suggest that anybody else do the same, because this book is unlike so many others out there, and everything unfolds beautifully as we get to know these characters and watch the impact that they have on each other’s lives.

Bree is running from the pain of her life. Having endured a horrific trauma months earlier, she is searching for peace and a place to heal. When she arrives in a sleepy little town in Maine, she is quickly enfolded by the community, and feels that it may be what she has been looking for.

And then she meets Archer Hale.

Quiet, standoffish and very reclusive, Archer is pretty much the polar opposite of any other romance hero out there. He is not a bad boy, or a manwhore, or an alpha who wants to control. He is, simply, a beautiful broken boy. And what follows is an incredible journey as two strangers meet, become unlikely friends, and fall in love. There is nothing extreme or fast about it – it’s gentle, it’s realistic, it’s a beautifully slow burn, and oh God, it’s good!

“I didn’t know enough to dream you, Bree, but somehow you came true anyway. How did that happen?” He rubbed his nose along mine, pausing and then pulling back again. “Who read my mind and knew exactly what I wanted, even when I didn’t?”

Archer has been through his own trauma years ago, and this is hinted at in flashbacks from his POV. His past and his upbringing has shaped him into who he is – naïve in so many ways, yet also incredibly strong and resilient with a great wit. His vulnerability just melted me.

“I’m afraid to love you. I’m afraid that you’ll leave and that I’ll go back to being alone again. Only it will be a hundred times worse because I’ll know what I’m missing. I can’t…” He sucked in a shaky breath. “I want to be able to love you more than I fear losing you, and I don’t know how. Teach me, Bree. Please teach me. Don’t let me destroy this.”

Oh. My. God. Doesn’t that just kill you??? *deep breath*

These two broken people have so much hurt in their pasts, and they both struggle with how to overcome it, and I loved watching their journeys. Archer, in particular has a lot to overcome, and I thought the way that Sheridan portrayed his story was absolutely beautiful – painfully realistic, my heart broke for him a number of times, but there is also some humour and cheer-inducing moments and I love the strength that both he and Bree showed as they fought so hard to be together.

“This is that burden I was talking about, Bree. This is what the burden of loving me looks like.”
“Loving you isn’t a burden. Loving you is an honor and a joy, Archer.”

OMG, I love these characters! Both so strong despite all they have been through, and absolutely committed to having and healing each other. And the romance is an absolute swoon fest! The slow burn builds the anticipation beautifully, and I could feel everything right alongside them. The swoon, the hotness, the heart-clenching intimacy of it all, even the heartache, it’s all just beautiful.

And it’s all woven in with everyday life in a small town, moments of happy, a little bit of evil, the mystery of the past, absolute, utter heartbreak, and some very powerful messages. My heart was on a rollercoaster as the story twists in ways that I certainly wasn’t expecting, but Bree and Archer’s story had me completely mesmerised from start to finish. And that ending… It may have been bordering on the overly-cheesy side of the HEA, but I totally didn’t care. I was completely swept up in all of the happy and was left clutching my kindle and grinning like a love-struck fool.

“Someday … when we’re old and gray, I’m going to look at you lying in bed beside me, just like this, and I’m going to look into your eyes and know that it’s only ever been you. And that is going to be the great joy of my life.”

I absolutely loved it. 5 beautiful stars.

Check out our Author Spotlight on Mia Sheridan.

Buy: Kindle Ebook | Paperback Review “I’m here for you.
