L.H. Cosway and Penny Reid are on fire. This awesome duo has done it again with another fantastic story in the Rugby series and I. LOVED. IT!! From the first chapter, I was hooked and I couldn’t put it down. I love secret baby books and I had a feeling Cosway and Reid would hit this one out of the park. And they did!

Eilish Cassidy is the gorgeous younger cousin of Sean Cassidy from The Player and the Pixie. She is not your typical nineteen-year-old who gets giddy around boys like her friends and she definitely does not believe in love at first site.

I was not and never had been a romantic sort with stars in my eyes and a happily ever after on my mind. The term life partner sounded like a life sentence.
…
That was before last night.
Before I’d met Bryan Leech, in person. His poster had graced my walls since I was thirteen. Adolescent admiration for his form and skill had transformed into womanly appreciation for his . . . form and skill.

Eilish was young and naïve, and she wanted to feel alive, which is exactly what Bryan did for her. The thing she didn’t want is to get knocked up at nineteen. What she thought was the best night of her life and the start to something beautiful was nothing but a mistake that changed the course of her life forever.

Fast forward five years and Eilish is the new physio intern for the rugby team Bryan and Sean are on. She wants to work with the team because she needs the job to gain experience but she isn’t excited to see Bryan face to face again after so long. She is keeping a huge secret from him and doesn’t want him to discover the truth.

Bryan isn’t the same man Eilish met years earlier and when they meet again, the reunion is awkward. While there is no way that she could ever forget him, he doesn’t recognize her at all. But, there is something that immediately draws Bryan to Eilish, something he doesn’t really understand, and though he is in no position to start a relationship, it doesn’t stop the growing attraction he has toward her.

I wanted her.
I had no business wanting her.
No, strike that, I wouldn’t allow myself to want her.

Little does Bryan know that with just one encounter with Eilish, his life would never be the same. What will happen when her secret is revealed?

I loved this book! It’s an emotional, heartfelt read with a wonderful mix of love, humor, and steam. The story was entertaining and the characters were fantastic. I absolutely adored Eilish! She was smart, sassy, sweet, and instantly lovable. She has such a great personality and was hilarious. I admired how hardworking, strong, and brave she was, and that she owned her actions. I understood all of the emotions she harbored due to those decisions and felt them right along with her.

Bryan really surprised me. In the beginning, “old” Bryan left much to be desired. From what we saw of him in the previous books I couldn’t think of a single thing I liked about him. He’s a complete asshole and never even considered the people around him. He was a selfish playboy that was always too drunk to realize how awful he was. I was worried I’d have trouble warming up to him in this book. I shouldn’t have feared though because Reid and Cosway did an amazing job with his character. I knew he needed to change but didn’t know how they would manage making him likable. Well, they did it and they did it well. Holy hell he was fantastic. Sweet, caring and understanding, “new” Bryan was completely opposite of how he was before. I loved that he didn’t make excuses for his actions and was truly sorry for everything in his past.

She didn’t deserve to be forgotten.
She deserved to be treasured.
And I was going to do everything in my power to make up for what I’d done.

I loved Bryan and Eilish as a couple. I loved watching their friendship grow and the bond they formed in the present, not just because of what happend. Facing the past head on was hard but they managed to move forward and I loved watching the story play out.

There was a constant electrical charge in the air when they were around each other and I loved the sexual tension between them. They were explosive together and added so much steam to the story. The banter was hilarious and lightened the darker moments. I was dreading the scene where her secret comes out. I knew it was going to be emotional because of the seriousness of the secret but I absolutely loved Bryan’s reaction. It was nothing like I anticipated and he was simple amazing.

The drama in this story was rough but I liked that when they confronted the issues, it wasn’t drawn out too long. It added just enough angst to balanced out all the sweet, swoon, and fun in this book.

The Cad and the Co-Ed is another fantastic addition to the Rugby series and I highly recommend it.

“There were no villains.
