Synopsis<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Veronica Webber is single again after being in a loveless marriage way past its expiration date. For the first time in a very long time, she feels free and after being burned so badly by love in the past, any thought of romance is the last thing on her mind.<\/p>\n

In walks a man from her past, Trevor Allen, a tall, dark, and handsome womanizer who is usually all about the bottom line. For Trevor that bottom line has always been made up of the countless notches on his bedpost. But when he sees Veronica after so many years, he can\u2019t help but be drawn to her and know her again\u2026 even if that means being friend-zoned from the start.<\/p>\n

As this unlikely pair spends more and more time together, they quickly realize that there might be something between them that goes past “just friends.” But there\u2019s just one tiny detail that makes this situation slightly more complicated\u2026 Trevor was Veronica\u2019s ex-husband\u2019s best man at their wedding nine years ago.<\/p>\n

I really enjoyed this book. A friends-to-lovers story with a delicious twist, it\u2019s funny, heartfelt, hot and romantic with characters that you can\u2019t help but fall for. Such a fun read, I loved it!<\/p>\n

Veronica is fresh from a recent divorce after a very unhappy marriage and she has moved to NYC to get a fresh start. Coming out from under the thumb of her husband and her controlling mother, she is determined to get out and life her life the way she wants. I love Veronica. She\u2019s smart, sensible and infinitely relatable, and from the very first chapter from her POV, I knew she was a kindred spirit\u2026<\/p>\n

Typically, \u201cletting my hair down\u201d meant that I would sit in front of the television and binge-watch HGTV for hours at a time. Many a weekend since the divorce had been spent this way. My obsession with Chip and Joanna Gaines had reached epic proportions by now. To the point that I seriously contemplated moving to Waco, Tx before settling on New York. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Trevor is a cocky, arrogant manwhore with a wicked sense of humour. He doesn\u2019t do relationships, and he revels in his business success, his ease with women and his seemingly charmed life. There is a touch of douchery about him, but he totally owns it and I found his frankness, sarcastic wit and unabashed overconfidence hilariously charming.<\/p>\n

Let\u2019s be honest, folks, there was no way I was going to find a woman in a bar, defile her to the verge of utter filth, and then all of a sudden be overcome with the urge to want to marry her and make babies. It was never going to happen. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

When Veronica bravely heads out for a night on the town, she runs into Trevor. Their eyes lock, there is a spark there, but the twist is \u2013 he was the best man at her wedding 9 years ago. But that doesn\u2019t stop them from enjoying an evening out together. They haven\u2019t seen each other in years, and Trevor\u2019s friendship with Veronica\u2019s ex has fallen away, but he\u2019s always had a thing for her. Not wanting to push anything on her but still wanting to be a part of her life, he proposes friendship, and there is lots of banter, fun and innocent flirting as they get to know each other again and grow close.<\/p>\n

Since when did I have\u2026Jesus, I could barely bring myself to think it. Since when did I have feelings?
\nOr a conscience, I guess it what it\u2019s called too. I\u2019m not sure because I\u2019ve never fucking had one before when it came to a woman. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Trevor has never wanted a relationship and Veronica is definitely not ready for one, and even though they both try to keep things strictly friendly, it doesn\u2019t stop the chemistry between them and the simmering attraction that builds with each encounter.<\/p>\n

I\u2019ve heard that half the battle was admitting when you had a problem. So here I was admitting that I had a problem, and it was this: I was in over my head with Veronica.
\nBut I\u2019d be damned if I was going to stop.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The romance develops really nicely. It\u2019s easy, fun and sweet and so, so hot \u2013 with a perfect balance of deep emotion and mad lust – and as hard as they tried to resist, I loved watching these two fall for each other against the odds.<\/p>\n

It was everything: a culmination of a secret yearning for this woman who, for every fucking day we had spent together, every single phone call, every text, had no idea how much she was changing me to be a better man for her.<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cAll I see is you. All I want is you. All I need is you.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But their past connection makes their situation a little bit awkward, and then there\u2019s the fact that Trevor has a secret that he hasn\u2019t shared with Veronica – one that could potentially ruin everything.<\/p>\n

I loved this book. It\u2019s lots of fun, the romance is gorgeous, and the drama that is there is realistic and not overdone, adding a great edge to the story, and it\u2019s handled really well. The character development is really nicely done, and I fell in love right alongside Trevor and Veronica, and was cheering for them to get their happy ending.<\/p>\n

\u201cI swore \u2026 that I wouldn\u2019t let you just walk out of my life again. I was prepared to be your friend no matter what, Veronica. But the rest of it, it was there all along. It was waiting for us to meet in another time, another place\u2026and here we are.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re mine, Veronica\u2026and I\u2019m yours.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The other highlight of the book for me was the camaraderie between Trevor and his brothers. They are all great guys and their constant teasing was so funny!<\/p>\n

\u201cGood luck, and remember that your family only loves you because we have to. Veronica is not your family.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I love Barbie\u2019s writing, and once again she has delivered a wonderfully entertaining read that kept me hooked from start to finish. I loved Trevor and Veronica, and their story, and I\u2019m definitely looking forward to reading more from this series.<\/p>\n
