I can honestly say that this book gave me everything that I wanted to see – all in vivid and highly emotive detail, and I absolutely LOVED IT! It’s an incredible love story, but it also shows us the more practical aspects of the characters dealing with all that they have been through, as well as providing answers to questions that I didn’t know I wanted until they were presented to me.

The story picks up pretty much immediately after the harrowing ending to Becoming Calder, so this review is going to be spoilery if you haven’t read it.

Through dual POV we get to see both Calder and Eden dealing with the aftermath of the shocking events at the end of the last book that left me absolutely reeling. There are a few surprises in there that I certainly wasn’t expecting, and my heart broke yet again for them! But it all plays out beautifully, and we get wonderful insight into their thoughts and feelings as they struggle to move forward from their tragic losses.

But let’s face it, it’s all about the love story, and OH.MY.GOD!!! The anticipated reunion between Calder and Eden doesn’t take too long to come about and it is absolutely INCREDIBLE. Heartfelt and full of emotions, my heart was pounding during the big lead up, and I think I actually stopped breathing at that actual moment where they saw each other again.

And the awesome doesn’t stop there. That mad, soul-deep love and need for each other obviously still consumes them both, but there are things that they need to get past, and it’s all done honestly and realistically, leading in to an absolutely stunning reconnection that allows them to open up and talk about all they have been through, rediscover each other, and fight their way forward as they try to heal. And OMG, it’s beautiful! My eyes teared up so many times.

“I’ll never stop loving you, you beautiful, tortured man. I know the goodness in you, Calder. I do, more than anyone. I know the tenderness of your heart, and I know all that was taken from you. I know the dreadful sorrow inside of you. I live it, too. I know . I know. But I also believe we are going to be okay – we are going to love so hard and with so much intensity, that it’s going to melt away all the pain.”
…
“I swear to you, my beautiful, sweet love, everyone deserves a love story that doesn’t hurt.”
Calder let out a loud exhale of breath and leaned his forehead against mine. “Even us?”
I pressed my body more firmly against his. “Yes. I promise you. Even us.”

The strength of these characters is unbelievable. They have been through so much, and the fact that they have come through it whole and functioning is a miracle. And together, they are an absolute powerhouse. They understand each other, they strengthen each other, and their love for each other is incredible. It’s a true soul-mate connection, and every little moment between them – whether they’re being seriously swoony or just having fun together – was heartfelt and absolutely beautiful. And not a little bit hot!

“I want to fuck you and worship you … I want to worship you while I fuck you. I want to fuck you until you feel how much I worship you.”

Oh holy God! Yep, there’s heaps of steamy time, and whether it’s hard and fast or slow and tender, it’s all incredibly emotive and a beautifully written extension of the love that they have for each other.

And let’s not forget Xander. Definitely an important part of the story, I loved that we got to spend so much time with him and see how is coping with everything as well. He’s an amazing character, and the bond between the three of them is something very special.

This is a perfect conclusion to an amazing story. The pacing is perfect, giving Mia Sheridan time to tell her story in lots of detail, and making us feel everything along with the characters – heartache, joy, fear, hope and love – I was right there with them the whole time, and it is an amazing ride! And there’s even an epilogue!!

Beautifully written, this book proves once again why Mia Sheridan is on my auto-buy list. I know I will be thinking about this story for a long time to come.

5 stars.

The Becoming Calder duet

Becoming Calder (#1)
Review
Buy: Kindle Ebook | Paperback

Finding Eden (#2)
Review
Buy: Kindle Ebook | Paperback

Check out our Mia Sheridan Author Spotlight for more amazing reads.

Buy: Kindle Ebook | Paperback Review 5 stunningly beautiful stars This is the perfect conclusion to the amazing story told in Becoming Calder.
