A great finish to a unique and exciting YA paranormal that pushes the boundaries into science fiction, and brings a whole new perspective to angels and demons!
\n<\/b>
\nPicking up right where\u00a0World After<\/em><\/a>\u00a0left off, we are thrust straight back into the drama of Penryn, Raffe and Paige on the run with Belial. Penryn is now an angel killer, Raffe is still desperate for his wings, and Paige is still trying to come to terms with what she has been turned into.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s full on from the very beginning, and the intensity doesn\u2019t let up the whole way through as the countdown to the final battle begins, and Penryn and Raffe prepare for a mission that will literally take them to hell and back.<\/p>\n

All of the characters from the previous books appear, and pretty much everybody is in on the action, and it all culminates into a kickass ending that is full of action, violence, gore and death. But it\u2019s definitely exciting!<\/p>\n

The character dynamics are great, with a lot of character development.<\/p>\n

I thought Belial’s backstory was really clever, and I was devastated at the tragedy of his situation. But still, so well done!<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Penryn’s mother is still slightly crazy but so funny, and Dee and Dum’s antics bring some much-needed lightness. I particularly enjoyed getting to know the Watchers \u2013 they\u2019re a fantastic bunch, and I loved their camaraderie and sarcasm.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaybe we can relax here for a few seconds,\u201d says Little B.
\n\u201cOops, time\u2019s up,\u201d says Howler, slapping his hand on Little B\u2019s shoulder. \u201cBack to being tense and hunted.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The romance is still there\u2026 ticking along. It\u2019s not as intense as it has been in the past, but it\u2019s still definitely there. Penryn and Raffe share some gorgeous moments in between the nightmarish events around them, and I really enjoyed the \u2018forbidden love\u2019 part of the story.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf I were human, I would have been the first in line for you…\u201d He looks away. \u201cBut I’m not.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I have really enjoyed this series. Susan Ee\u2019s writing is fantastic, and she\u2019s given us a really original story in a genre saturated with \u2018ordinary\u2019 angels and demons. In the first book, Ee created a horrifying vision of an angel apocalypse, and her descriptive, engaging story sucked me immediately in. Books two and three have concentrated more on the action than the feels, and I wanted a bit \u2018more\u2019 for the big finish, but I was happy with how it all played out.<\/p>\n

4 stars.<\/p>\n

Note – I listened to this as an audiobook, and Caitlin Davies does a great job with it. Definitely worth a listen!<\/p>\n
