If you haven’t read B&R, then I fully suggest diving in before making a start on this one, because you’ll want to know the background and experience the awesomeness that is Zeth Mayfar, and the romance, sex and action that make these books an absolutely irresistible read.

“There isn’t a man alive on this planet that can come close to being anywhere near as sexy, thrilling, scary, alluring, or terrifying as him, all in one go.”

The events of the B&R series ended with Zeth and Sloane happy and in love and forging a new life together, trying their best to move on from the drama that was such a big part of their coming together. In this series we are seeing the next stage in their story. They have been through hell together and have both changed so much, and I loved seeing their continued character development as they get used to their life together and revel in the emotion that they have for each other.

I think I’m gonna have to catch her when she collapses against me, face pressed into my chest, but I don’t. She’s just tired and leaning on me. I fold my arms around her and hold her up anyway, because that’s what I’m here for. Always. Being there for her to lean on will be my primary job from now on and until the day I die.

This is what being in love is. This is what falling even more deeply in love is, with each and every passing second. Cities could burn and the world could be ending, crashing down around my ears, and I wouldn’t trade this feeling or this man to save a single soul. I just wouldn’t be able to.

But there is still that same old Zeth that I completely fell for – the badass, unapologetic, dark and dirty alpha who will do anything for (and to) his girl.

You’ll never have to beg me for what I’m about to give you, Angry Girl. Misbehave badly enough and you can have it whenever you want.”

And did I mention the hotness? Because holy hell, this book is smutty! Dirty, raw and kinky with lots of filthy talk, the sex between Zeth and Sloane is hotter than ever, but with added emotion that makes it all the more intense. It’s such an essential part of their relationship, and we definitely get to explore it with them!

“I need to wrap myself around you,” I whisper. “I need you inside me. I need you to hold onto me so tight I can’t breathe. I don’t want to know where you end and I start anymore.”

Alongside Zeth and Sloane’s story, we are introduced to a new character, Mason Reeves. Mason is a 23 year old with a difficult past who is struggling to bring up his unwell younger sister all on his own. He works across the road from Zeth’s gym, and is working hard to make ends meet, but life is hard for him, and his situation is just heartbreaking. And now he’s met Zeth, and it looks like things are going to change (and there’s the added bonus of a sweetly quirky heroine for him). I can’t wait to see what is in store for him.

Adding an edge of danger to the story, a New York crime lord seems intent on dragging Zeth back into the world he worked so hard to escape from. And with his eye set firmly on Seattle, I sense some action coming our way!

This is a really quick book, reading very similarly to the B&R series, with each story leading into the next, so it’s very much unfinished. But it’s really a set up for the rest of the Chaos & Ruin series, and it’s a solid one, and I’m excited to see where the story goes from here.

I loved it. 4 stars.

Chaos & Ruin series

<img data-recalc-dims="1" decoding="async"
