When Ben Porter, best friend of the Boudreaux boys, was there for their sister, Savannah, at her lowest point, the connection between them was clear. It\u2019s been a long and arduous journey for Savannah, but their time has finally come, and after six books of longing glances and building chemistry, and the rest of her siblings getting their HEAs, I was so excited to finally get my hands on Ben and Savannah\u2019s story.<\/p>\n I cross to her and kiss her forehead, not touching her anywhere else. Savannah and Ben have known each other since they were children. He is best friends with her three brothers, and has always been a part of the family. There was an attraction there when they were younger but their three-year age gap prohibited him for making a move when they were teenagers and it never really happened for them. Savannah then went on to marry her college sweetheart who controlled and tormented her in unimaginable ways for the six years they were married, leaving her a shattered shell of the woman she used to be. It\u2019s now two years later, and Van has clawed her way out of the hole he left her in, finding herself again and taking back control of her life. Ben has continued to be a part of her life, supporting her and being a true friend. He has been in love with Van for as long as he can remember, and he has finally reached the breaking point where he can\u2019t hide his feelings for her anymore<\/p>\n \u201cI always thought that just having you in my life was enough. And my heart was so full as the anticipation builds for the big moment!<\/p>\n I love him. I\u2019ve always loved him. But this is <\/i>Ben.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n This is a fast-moving story. There has been so much build up for these two, and I\u2019m so glad Kristen Proby didn\u2019t keep us waiting for the good stuff. Hearts are opened and feelings are declared pretty early on, and it\u2019s a total swoonfest! Ben is absolutely incredible as he eases Van into everything that he wants to experience with her. He already knows that he wants it all, but he also knows that he needs to tread carefully with her, and he absolutely does that. Being gentle, caring, protective and understanding, while also letting her know in no uncertain terms how he feels and what he wants from her.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re amazing, Savannah.\u201d He presses his lips ever so gently to the soft skin below my ear \u2026 \u201cI love you so much my body aches with it.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n But it\u2019s not all sweet words and baby steps. Ben and Van are great friends, and there\u2019s a wonderful sense of fun in their relationship, and I love that they are able to maintain that. I love that we get to see so much of them together as a couple, and of course there\u2019s sexy time which is hot, intense, and super passionate. And then there\u2019s this\u2026<\/p>\n \u201cUm, Ben?\u201d Van really impressed me. After all that she has endured, nobody would blame her for curling up into a ball and avoiding men for the rest of her life. But she knows Ben, she trusts him, and I so admired her strength and determination in rebuilding her life \u2013 and that includes finally exploring her feelings for the man she\u2019s loved her whole life, truly allowing him in and opening herself up to everything they can be together.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat I had before was dark and evil and <\/i>wrong. It wasn\u2019t love. It was <\/i>never love. Ben and Van\u2019s relationship is sweet and sexy with a whole lot of heart. They are open and honest with each other, and there\u2019s very little angst and drama as they find their way forward together and throw themselves all in. And I loved it! Their story is a journey \u2013 not only of their relationship, but of Van continuing to reclaim her life, and I love how both of those aspects of the story are woven together. But as much as they love each other and as good for each other as they are, there are still things they have to deal with. There\u2019s a bit of a mystery\/drama aspect to the story which adds a bit of intensity, but it\u2019s resolved well and doesn\u2019t overwhelm the absolutely beautiful love story.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t want to fuck this up, Savannah. We worked too hard to get here.\u201d As with the other books in the series, Van\u2019s brothers and sisters and their significant others are all a part of the action, and I loved catching up with them. I loved seeing where each of the couples are at, but I also loved seeing the girls together, and the boys together \u2013 now with the added dynamic of Ben being the man with their sister, not just their lifelong friend, and I loved seeing the love and protectiveness they have for their beloved sister, and the support for them as a couple. This is a great bunch of characters, and they are so much fun together.<\/p>\n I\u2019ve loved this series. Each book is fun, sweet and sexy with great characters, swoony romance and low drama, and I love knowing that I\u2019m going to get exactly that when I pick up one of Kristen Proby\u2019s books. Ben and Van\u2019s story finishes beautifully, and as the end of the series, there\u2019s also a really gorgeous epilogue which completes the story of the Boudreaux clan.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re <\/i>everything.\u201d He kisses me, his lips much gentler than the rest of him. \u201cYou are the beginning and the end of me, Savannah. I\u2019m sweating like an ice cold drink without a coaster, and the clothes I wear here are skin tight, making it easier to move.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re not usually here at this time,\u201d I say and dab a towel on my face. \u201cWhat\u2019s up?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI had a meeting with another instructor,\u201d he says with a smile. \u201cThought I\u2019d say hi.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHi.\u201d I smile and readjust my ponytail. It\u2019s much smaller now, but I can still pull it back. \u201cHow was your day?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBusy,\u201d he replies and surprises me by letting his eyes travel up and down my body. \u201cI like the new hair. You look great.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m a mess.\u201d I chuckle and hook my towel around my shoulders. \u201cYou, however, do<\/em> look great.\u201d<\/p>\n That\u2019s a fucking understatement. He\u2019s in cargo shorts and a black tank top, showing off his tattoos and his muscles.<\/p>\n Good lord, the muscles.<\/p>\n \u201cCan I show you a few things?\u201d he asks, breaking my concentration on his muscles.<\/p>\n \u201cSure,\u201d I frown as I follow him back into the empty classroom. \u201cAm I doing something wrong?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cNo, I just want to go over some form things.\u201d He leads me to the center of the room and stands behind me, looking into my eyes through the mirror.<\/p>\n Oh God. This is way sexier than it probably should be.<\/p>\n \u201cAssume the stance.\u201d<\/p>\n I follow his directions and work very hard to not react to his strong hands on my sides as he walks me through punches, kicks, and better ways to keep my center of gravity.<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re small,\u201d he murmurs and pushes my legs just a little closer together. \u201cI want you to keep your feet just a little closer together. You\u2019ll have better balance.\u201d<\/p>\n I nod. \u201cIt feels better.\u201d<\/p>\n He smiles at me. I can\u2019t keep my eyes off of him in the mirror. The way he moves, his facial expressions.<\/p>\n Ben has always been attractive to me, but holy shit, did he get hotter? Or was I just too broken before to see it?<\/p>\n Because holy shit, he\u2019s hot.<\/p>\n \u201cVan?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYeah?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI just asked you to do the spin\/elbow move.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cOh.\u201d I bite my lip and will myself to stop ogling his arms.<\/p>\n \u201cAre you okay?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cOf course.\u201d I do as he asks and spin, attempting to ram my elbow in his nose, the way I\u2019ve been taught, but he blocks and sends me onto my ass. \u201cDamn it.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re not spinning quickly enough.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m as clumsy as they get,\u201d I remind him. \u201cIf I spin too fast, I\u2019ll fall on my ass. I\u2019ll be helping my attacker more than anything.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019ll actually feel easier,\u201d he says, helping me to my feet. \u201cYou can do this. I\u2019ve seen it.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cYou\u2019re taller than anyone else I\u2019ve ever sparred with.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cGood,\u201d he says and narrows his eyes. \u201cChances are, if you ever have to defend yourself, your attacker won\u2019t be shorter than you.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cTrue.\u201d I nod thoughtfully.<\/p>\n \u201cBut if you\u2019re still not comfortable doing this with me, that\u2019s fine. I can make suggestions for Shelly to work on next week.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m okay,\u201d I reply, and am surprised to realize that it\u2019s true. It wasn\u2019t long ago that I couldn\u2019t stand for any man to touch me, not even my brothers. But I don\u2019t mind so much now.<\/p>\n In fact, I\u2019m utterly shocked to realize that his touch is turning me on. I don\u2019t remember the last time I had sexual thoughts toward a man.
