You will have to excuse me because I have gone completely quote crazy in my review, but you will clearly see that I had no choice 😛

First off, I have to say that despite the title Willing Captive, and the ominously graphic cover, this is, in NO way, a dark book. Both title and cover are incredibly deceptive, it’s not a book about a person being held against their will, or abused in any way at all. It’s something completely different, and it’s awesome.

He leans back in his chair and states, “You haven’t been kidnapped, Delilah.”
Eyes wide, I lift my face to look into his and ask, “Who are you?”
Hottie’s lip twitches. “The person who just saved your life, baby.”
What the mother fuck?

22 year old Delilah (Lily), lives a sheltered life. Overly protected by her wealthy father, she rarely leaves the house, has no friends other than her also overly-protected elder sister, and is content to be in her room, losing herself in the books that she adores (it’s no wonder I instantly loved her!). When Lily’s father confesses to his daughters that the family is under threat, she hardly has time to freak out before commandos come barging into her room and carry her right out of her house. Blindfolded and taken to a secret location, she finds herself at the mercy of the mysterious (and HOT) Nox, and his bunch of badasses.

But don’t go thinking that Lily is a shy little wallflower. She may be sheltered and naive in some ways, but she is a sarcastic smartass, and her inner monologue had me in hysterics constantly.

“Well, that’s that. Goodbye cruel world. Be sure to fuck thyself on the way out, you mean-assed son of a whore.”

“I don’t utter a word of complaint, because let’s face it, Nox doesn’t seem like a giver of fucks.”

Finding herself in a completely different environment than she is used to, Lily is befriended by the aforementioned badasses who are with her, and ironically finds that her captivity allows her the opportunity to stretch her wings, discover who she is and what she wants and finally start to live her own life. And this is most apparent in her developing relationship with Nox.

The sparks between her and Nox fly from the very beginning. They have a fantastically antagonistic relationship, and their interactions are sensational.

He leans closer to me and whispers, “Don’t push me, little girl. You don’t wanna see my bad side.”
I blink a second before my eyes widen and I lean back from him as I whisper hiss, “This is your good side?”

“I swear this guy must’ve been conceived through backdoor action. There’s no way being that much of an asshole is natural.”

Nox is a sexy and intense, hardass Alpha, and even though there is animosity there, Lily can’t deny that she is attracted to him. And the more she opens up in the house, the more Nox finds himself drawn to her. The UST starts to build, and it’s all very realistic and perfectly paced, and it’s awesome. Nox and Lily’s relationship is absolutely beautiful! Definitely not the kind of romantic storyline I was expecting, but it was perfect for them and the story, and I was pleasantly surprised watching it all unfold, and loved the way they complemented each other, changed each other, and felt so strongly for each other.

“I’m not falling for her. No. I’m not falling.
It’s too late to use present tense.
I fell fuckin’ hard.”

Yep, that’s right! That’s male POV right there, and there’s quite a bit of Nox-time to be had. WIN! Oh, and in case you’re wondering – he’s quite the dirty talker as well, and certainly knows how to use it! *fans self*

Adding to the awesome are Boo and Rock. Absolutely freaking hilarious, and both with hearts of gold, these two work with Nox and almost steal every scene they are in. I loved them both! The camaraderie between the characters is fabulous, and their individual and group dynamics are just magic.

The story has quite a few twists and turns, and I was surprised at the direction it took, but I absolutely loved it! Even with all of the humour, Aurora manages to bring some amazing emotion to the story, and I found myself in tears a few times. There are also some moments that had my heart racing, and even one scene that made me squeal out loud. A number of times while reading, I was struck by how perfect a particular scene was, whether it made me laugh, cry, or squee, I just sat back and thought ‘YES! That happened exactly how I wanted it to!’ and then I’d read it all over again, just to soak it all up. THAT is great writing!

“Can’t help who you fall in love with, princess.”

This is my first book by Belle Aurora, and it certainly won’t be my last. I love her style, and her storytelling is fantastic.
