4 swoony, emotional stars<\/strong><\/p>\n

A.L. Jackson has kicked off her new series with a deeply emotional, intense romance between a woman who is looking to reclaim her life and a broody single father who is completely closed off to the idea of love. Beautifully written with lots of feels, this is a gorgeous story of healing and moving on, with a love story that swept me right off my feet. I loved it.<\/p>\n

Rynna Surname left her home town on the night of her 18th birthday, humiliated, emotionally destroyed and at rock bottom. She created a life for herself in San Francisco, but following the death of her beloved grandmother, she has inherited the house that she grew up in and decides to face her demons and return home to live the life she always dreamed of having.<\/p>\n

Rex Gunner runs his own construction company, and is a single father to an enthusiastic, delightful 4 year old girl. Little Frankie is his entire life and the only thing that makes him smile after suffering losses that have left him a shattered man. He is plagued by grief and guilt, and has shut himself off from anything else in life, existing purely to protect and raise his little girl.<\/p>\n

When Rynna returns to her Grandmother\u2019s house, Rex is her neighbour across the street. They meet and there is an immediate pull between them, which only becomes more intense each time they run into each other as their attraction to each other grows. And while Rynna is keen to explore everything that is building between them, Rex is adamant that he won\u2019t go there, leading to a whole heap of deliciously chemistry-filled encounters as she pushes him to let down his walls.<\/p>\n

I love the dynamic in this relationship. I thought it was really well developed, and I could feel Rex\u2019s conflict as he fought so hard to resist Rynna. Their need for each other is almost a palpable thing, with meaningful stares, heated conversations and steamy encounters when the sexual tension all becomes too much, and I love that Rynna had the strength to pursue what she wanted, working to tear down Rex\u2019s barriers, knowing that that neither of them can miss out on the chance of something truly special. And when it all comes together\u2026 holy swoony hotness! All of that build up is certainly worth the way for the emotional and passionate intensity that is these two together.<\/p>\n

\u201cLast two times I touched you nearly ruined me. Seeing you like this? Don\u2019t think I\u2019m ever going to be the same. Stealing my sleep. Stealing my breath. Stealing my sanity. Little thief.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But the pain of their pasts is still very much alive, and when they open up to each other about it, again I could feel how deeply all they had been through had impacted on who they were and the way they live their lives, and my heart ached for both of them. And when those demons become all-too real, it will put everything that Rex and Rynna have found together to the ultimate test.<\/p>\n

I loved this story. I felt so much while reading, and I was completely drawn in to Rex and Rynna\u2019s story. AL Jackson writes emotionally intense romance so well, and she\u2019s done a great job with these two, not just showing, but making you feel all that they are feeling, and I loved riding the ups and downs with them<\/p>\n

\u201cYou make me feel again, Rynna. You make me feel like every chance is one worth taking. Like you\u2019re leading me out of the darkness that\u2019s ruled my life. When I close my eyes, who I see is <\/i>you.\u201d <\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cYou changed everything the day you walked into my life. You are my heart\u2019s second chance.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There is a great group of side characters that support Rex and Rynna along the way, and I can\u2019t wait to get to know them more as their stories are told. And shout out, too, to little Frankie who is absolutely gorgeous and a total scene stealer. So freaking cute!<\/p>\n

It all ends well with a beautiful epilogue, and I finished this book with a huge smile on my face. It\u2019s a really strong series starter and I\u2019m excited to continue on.<\/p>\n

I loved it \u2013 4 stars.<\/p>\n
