MY FRIENDS WANT ME TO GET LAID.<\/strong><\/p>\n So much so that they plastered my ugly mug all over campus, in bold printed letters:<\/p>\n “Are you the lucky lady who\u2019s going to break our roommate\u2019s cherry?<\/em> The morons can\u2019t even spell. And the texts I\u2019ve been receiving are what wet dreams are made of. But I\u2019m not like these douchebags, no matter how hard they try to turn me into one.<\/p>\n THIS ISN\u2019T THE KIND OF ATTENTION I WANT.<\/strong><\/p>\n One text stands out from hundreds. One number I can\u2019t bring myself to block. She seems different. Hotter, even in black and white.<\/p>\n However, after seeing her in person, I know she\u2019s not the girl for me. But my friends won\u2019t let up\u2014they just don’t get it. Douchebags or not, there’s one thing they’ll never understand: GIRLS DON\u2019T WANT ME<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Especially her.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n 4.5 stars!<\/b><\/p>\n This is the third book in the How to Date A<\/em> Douchebag<\/i> series, though it can easily standalone, and in a switcharound from the usual formula, our hero is not a douchebag! He\u2019s a kind, sweet, innocent and gentle guy who is smart, shy and inexperienced when it comes to all things women, and he soon finds himself way over his head when his douchey roommates attempt to bring him out of his shell.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Rhett Rabideaux is an all-star wrestler and a new transfer to Iowa and its wrestling team. He\u2019s a complete sweetheart and he knows he isn\u2019t the kind of guy that girls usually go for. He\u2019s not gorgeous, he\u2019s just an average guy who is scarred and a bit banged from his years of wrestling. Girls don\u2019t want him, and he\u2019s accepted that. But among the mountain of scanadalous messages he receives after his face is plastered all over campus, there is one girl that seems different.<\/p>\n Laurel is strong and assertive, and is used to having guys fall at her feet. She comes across as conceited and a bit mean when we first meet her, and she judges and dismisses Rhett based on his looks alone. But when she is pressured into contacting him, their text conversations spark her interest and she realises that he is so much more than she initially thought, and everything starts to shift for her.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Again, Sara Ney has given us a delicious, perfectly paced romance as Rhett and Laurel get to know each other, become friends and slowly and realistically fall for each other. Their conversations are open and honest, and every interaction simmers with anticipation, just waiting for something to happen. This book is a real case of beauty is found on the inside, because the more Rhett and Laurel interact, the more attractive he becomes to her and Laurel soon finds herself falling head over heels for the boy that she can\u2019t get enough of.<\/p>\n God, I like him so much. Drown in his goodness. His kind spirit and pure heart. The romance of his second language. Sweet brown eyes and beautiful smile.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Rhett\u2019s naivety is absolutely charming. He has no clue what is happening between him and Laurel, and though he wants her badly, his insecurity prevents him from doing anything about it. And I love that Laurel is the one to push him. She didn\u2019t walk away, she pursues him and encourages him, and the sexual tension builds fantastically as they fall hard for each other while they figure it all out. And holy hotness, it\u2019s worth the wait!<\/p>\n \u201cTu me rends fou pour quelques semaines.\u201d You\u2019ve been driving me crazy for weeks. I loved watching it all happen for them, and even with the issues that they had to face, I thought it all played out realistically with a whole lot of heart and humour, giving us an absolutely gorgeous love story that had me smiling like a fool.<\/p>\n And as a final note, if you get the chance to listen to this book as an audiobook, do it, because the narration is absolute perfection. Josh Goodman and Muffy Newtown capture the spirit of Rhett and Laurel so well, and really bring this story to life (the accents in particular are fantastic!).
