It’s a beautifully heartfelt romance, and a story about discovering yourself, learning to accept it and finding the courage to live it. It’s beautifully written, with lots of emotion and a healthy dose of sexy time, and I couldn’t put it down.

Derek is a fastidious, organised neat freak. He is 36 years old and has reached the point in life where he wants nothing more than to settle down with a wife and have a family. But even though he meets women who should be right for him, he just can’t feel the connection that he longs for.

Maxim has just arrived in LA from Moscow. He packed up his life to move to America and chase his dreams, but when his lift doesn’t arrive to pick him up from the airport and his luggage is stolen, he is left with little more than the clothes on his back.

Derek is a big hearted guy who feels drawn to help others, so he offers Maxim a place to stay while he gets himself sorted out, not knowing that everything is about to change.

I wasn’t expecting him at all.
I wasn’t expecting any of it.

Maxim is gay. Derek is not. But Derek has always had ‘urges’ which he has buried after being raised in a religious and ultra-conservative household. The two men form a fast friendship, and find themselves opening up to each other. And though they may try to resist it, the chemistry between the two men is undeniable, and they can only resist it for so long.

Madness. That’s what it was. And I could no longer contain it.

This book is all kinds of hot. The sexy time is sizzling and full of chemistry, but so much more than that is the emotion! I loved the way the relationship between Derek and Maxim developed. It’s real and raw and suits their situation. Maxim’s openness and willingness to be what Derek needs is absolutely gorgeous, and I loved his sweet heart and his quiet strength. Derek’s journey is an emotional rollercoaster, and my heart ached for him and all that he went through in coming to accept his feelings and then battling with what to do with them. I could understand where he was at, it felt so real, and I thought his story was beautifully written.

“I wanted to know what it be like to be yours. To belong to you”
It took him a moment to respond. “And what was it like?”
I closed my eyes, sinking fast. “Heaven. It was like heaven.”

There’s a wonderful collection of side characters that contribute so meaningfully to Derek and Maxim’s story, and I loved the little ‘Russian-isms’ that make Maxim’s character so wonderfully authentic. I was quickly sucked into the story and was captivated from start to finish, and it all ends beautifully, leaving me with a massive smile on my face.

With love, anything was possible.

Beautiful. 4 stars.

Check out more fantastic reads by this author on our Melanie Harlow Author Spotlight

Buy: Kindle Ebook Review “Love is love.” 4 stars!
