Life isn’t always easy and we see first-hand the immense sorrow that occurs when shattering moments poison the magnificent ones. The highs and lows are all-consuming, and when hearts are broken, sometimes love isn’t strong enough to heal them.

L.H. Cosway is a brilliant storyteller who will forever remain on my auto-buy list. I am consumed by every single word she writes. She captivates the reader through beautiful prose and unique characters, creating stories full of depth, passion, and emotion.

A Crack in Everything is an epic love story filled with friendship, romance, and sweet, swoony moments but it isn’t all fairytale bliss. It is heavy with tragedy, suffering, and tears. The overwhelming grief will break you. But there is love. So much love and it is real.

Evelyn and Dylan both reside in inner-city Dublin and though they have lived near each other for some time, they didn’t really know each other. Then, there is a moment when Dylan needs Evelyn’s help, changing everything, and a strong, unique friendship develops between the two teens. Where Evelyn is content with her life, Dylan wants more. Evelyn lets her optimism shine and Dylan can’t help but be pessimistic. Even though they seem to be opposites in many ways, somehow they seamlessly fit together.

I connected with Dylan and Evelyn immediately and enjoyed seeing them explore their feelings and begin to trust each with their hearts. Their easy banter makes you feel good and their quirky interests are entertaining. Open and honest, I loved that they could speak their mind without fearing judgment. They were not afraid to be themselves while challenging each other and truly were a perfect match.

Dylan and Evelyn’s gorgeous, slow-building romance was well-paced and felt natural. I loved watching first love grow and felt the giddiness and butterflies as Dylan and Evelyn got to know each other. The whole progression of their relationship was believable and endearing. Their love is genuine, fierce, and all-consuming, one that makes your heart skip beats.

Life in Dublin is far from easy and dreams that can make you soar are as easily crushed when tragedy hits. Though Dylan and Evelyn are meant to be, sometimes the timing is wrong. When circumstances pull them apart and heartbreak is all that is left, you can only hope that a second chance is in their future. With a love so pure and epic as Dylan and Evelyn’s, it deserves to bloom.

A Crack in Everything is book one of the Cracks Duet so I knew it was only half of the whole story. I was so engrossed in the book, so invested in the characters’ lives that when the heartache struck, I lost it. I couldn’t stop the tears streaming down my face. Though I didn’t know exactly what was going to happen, I knew a cliffhanger was coming. I was dreading it and cried when I turned the last page. I knew this story was going to tear me apart. I knew it was going to affect me completely, and now I am left desperately needing to start the next part, How the Light Gets In, to soothe my soul and mend my heart.

How the Light Gets In (Book Two)

5+ perfect stars!

Perfection. There are no other words to describe the Cracks Duet.

How the Light Gets In, the second book in this duet, embodies everything I love in a second-chance romance. The love and happiness, tears and heartbreak, and angst and overwhelming feels completely consumed. I was captivated from the very first page and am still reeling from all of the emotion this story stirred in me. I loved the good, the bad, and everything in between, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Taking place eleven years after A Crack in Everything, Evelyn is living in NYC after accepting a job and a place to stay from her aunt, Yvonne, and she is adapting to life away from Dublin. Never in a million years did Evelyn expect to see Dylan O’Dae again; their love was a lifetime ago and they had moved on. Or so she thought. The moment Dylan walks back into her life she is confronted with the feelings and the man she tried so hard to push away. Only this time, Dylan isn’t going anywhere.

Evelyn is a beautiful soul. I loved her enthusiasm when it came to experiencing a new city but she has a darkness hanging over her since the tragedy years before and it filled me with sorrow to see the once light and cheerful girl so broken. She knew she needed to let Dylan go and she did whatever she could to make it happen, including avoiding things that would remind her of him.

Never before had I opened a bottle of Dylan perfume and taken a sniff. Not even once. Every time I considered it my entire body tensed up with anxiety, my heart thrummed and my brain scrambled.
I knew that each scent would remind me of him. Dylan was the sort of person who put his entire self into every endeavour. I’d smell the top notes and see his smile, the middle notes and remember his voice. But most of all, hidden like a secret in the bottom notes, I’d feel his touch.

Dylan was such an integral part of her teenage years that remembering him was too hard. Even my heart still hurt from the pain they went through in book one. I felt both the love that remained in her heart and also the conflict she carried inside, including the hurt she experienced and the hurt she caused. I understood why she made the choices she did even if they were crushing, and I loved that she realized her faults and weaknesses, knowing what she needed to do in order to heal and become whole again.

I absolutely adored Dylan. He’s even more romantic in this book and I couldn’t stop swooning from everything he did. It was the little things that always lead back to Evelyn, and we see that the memories and his love never faded. Dylan’s patience and devotion with Evelyn warmed my heart. I believed his love, felt it deep within me,never faltering. He wasn’t going to let his second-chance slip through his fingers and his determination and persistence was everything.

Evelyn and Dylan together – wow! The reunion packed an emotional punch and everything I experienced in the first book came rushing back. The pain and heartache as well as the undying love that filled their hearts took my breath away. The emotion was intense and overwhelming. Evelyn and Dylan are now grown and in totally different places in their lives than they had been when they parted ways and everything seems different.

Here was a man who had once been a boy, who had once stolen my heart, who had once been my whole entire world. Now we were virtual strangers.

However, the years spent apart couldn’t sever the connection they once shared, and you can feel it in your soul that they are meant to be. Well-paced and slow burning, the romance was believable and watching them get to know each other again made my heart flutter. Their relationship was mature and functional and they didn’t give up on each other, loving unconditionally even when it was hard.

Evelyn and Dylan are the epitome of soul mates. Theirs is an epic love story that makes you believe in fate and happily-ever-afters. It’s not an easy journey finding their way back to each other but it is worth all the pain and heartache when love perseveres. And as I read the epilogue to this gorgeous duet, I couldn’t stop the happy tears from streaming down my face. A 2018 favorite and a must read duet!!

I glanced at the man beside me and fell in love even deeper, because he’d flicked the switch. He’d turned on the light bulb in my mind, shown me a new way of thinking just like he did when we were teenagers.
Only this time, I didn’t hate the world. I didn’t see the cracks.
I saw all the beautiful, flawed and wonderful parts that held them all together.

*ARCs generously provided by the author and Wordsmith Publicity*

About the Author

L.H.
