Kat is set to inherit the controlling shares of her family\u2019s multi-billion dollar company, Caravel Pharmaceuticals, and she has been learning the ropes ever since her father became ill. \u00a0However, her no-good cousin has other plans. To prevent him from ruining her life, Kat will do anything, and it seems like a marriage of convenience may be the only way out of the trouble her cousin is creating.<\/p>\n

Kat has lusted after Dan for years. One night in Vegas, the spark between them began to ignite; however, in the light of the morning it was quickly doused. Dan would forever be ingrained in her mind as the one who got away.\u00a0Now, Dan is back in the picture and more than willing to help Kat especially because the flame from years ago is still simmering no matter how much time has passed.<\/p>\n

Penny Reid is amazing at writing clever comedies filled with emotion and romance. Her stories are unique, addictive, and entertaining, and her characters are interesting and imperfect with wonderful growth and development.\u00a0We\u2019ve met Kat and Dan several times in the previous books and Reid kept them true to their characters. They were who I expected them to be but with so much more depth, and I loved them.<\/p>\n

Kat is a really interesting person. She is the heir to a fortune but you would never know who her family is, and I loved that she didn\u2019t flaunt her wealth. She was sweet, caring, and down to earth. She is far from perfect and has a troubled past but she has learned from her mistakes and she is a better person now.\u00a0Vulnerabilities make her real and her insecurities and worries are understandable.\u00a0She accepts who she is and watching her be the best she can be was endearing.\u00a0I loved her bravery and strength and how she wouldn\u2019t go down without a fight. And she definitely gives as good as she gets.<\/p>\n

Who would say yes to a marriage of convenience?? Dan \u201cThe Security Man\u201d O\u2019Malley would! He is freaking awesome and loyal and an amazing person. Under his tough exterior, he\u2019s sweet, gentle, and kind. From the moment Dan said yes to Kat, butterflies took flight and I couldn\u2019t help but smile. Here is this badass guy who is a total sweetheart and I fell for him hard!<\/p>\n

\n\u201cI do.\u201d
\nHe shook his head, telling me he disagreed. \u201cTrust me that I want every part of you.\u201d

I have been anticipating this book ever since I felt the electricity surrounding Kat and Dan in the other Knitting in the City<\/i> <\/a>books. Every moment they spent together was laced with off the charts sexual tension and this book kicks it up a notch. Talk about an intense and steamy connection. They were so different yet were perfect for each other. They have fantastic chemistry, easy banter, and they felt natural together no matter how unnatural the situation was.\u00a0I loved watching them getting to know each other again and open up about their insecurities and flaws. They were honest with each other, and Dan\u2019s patience was heartwarming. You could see that he adored her from the beginning.<\/p>\n

“I want to tell you, because you\u00a0should\u00a0know before you decide whether you want to – to -”
\n<\/i>“Okay, stop right there…Look. We got time. Just because we\u2019re married doesn\u2019t mean you owe me anything. We take things slow, no biggie.\u201d I shrugged. \u201cYou don\u2019t have to tell me anything you don\u2019t want to tell me, or you\u2019re not ready to tell me. But\u2014this thing, with us?\u2014it\u2019s already happening…\u201d<\/i>
\n \u201cIt\u2019s already started. There is no more before I decide,\u201d I added, softening my tone, tugging her forward and whispering just before taking her mouth, \u201cI\u2019ve decided.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Even though their relationship isn\u2019t easy and they must handle many challenges, the strength of their relationship comes through when they face them head on. I felt their frustrations but they talked through things and it was refreshing how functional they were as a couple, especially because it was all supposed to be fake.<\/p>\n

There\u2019s more than just the romance and the whole reason for the marriage added excitement, mystery, and suspense to the story. The way everything unfolds is interesting and made me question if those things are possible in real life. That\u2019s what Penny Reid does though, she brings her books to life in a realistic and believable way.<\/p>\n

I have to give a shout out to all the characters in the KITC<\/i><\/a> series and their role in this book. I love how they all come together when they are needed most. Each character is special and unique in their own way yet each love with their whole heart and provide unconditional support. This tight knit group of people are some of my favorites and while am so sad to see this series come to an end, I know we will get more of these wonderful characters in the upcoming Winston Brothers<\/i><\/a> books, and I can\u2019t wait!<\/p>\n

Staring at his chin, because I couldn\u2019t quite lift my eyes any higher, I cleared my throat. \u201cShould we get ready for bed?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSure,\u201d he said, his voice a rumble. Dan\u2019s eyes were on me, I felt the weight of them.<\/span><\/p>\n

My hands came to the hem of my skirt and I hesitated, feeling winded for some reason. Sneaking a glance at him, I immediately wished I hadn\u2019t. His gaze was watchful, but it was also unmistakably hot in a way that seemed at once both avaricious and accusatory. The vice tightened around my lungs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kiss him! Just freaking kiss him! You want numbered steps? Fine. You kiss him- check. He kisses you back- check. Then you make out- check. Check the boxes.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

I licked my lips, balling my hands into fists at my sides again, preparing to follow my hasty list.<\/span><\/p>\n

But then he said, \u201cUndress me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

My breath caught. On instinct, my eyes lifted and collided with his in much the same way our bodies had collided at the top of the stairs just moments ago. Jarring. Startling. Thrilling. This time I couldn\u2019t look away because this time I was falling. He made no move to catch me.<\/span><\/p>\n
