A heartfelt and emotional almost-second-chance-romance that had me absolutely captivated as we dive into the story of a pregnant mother desperate to save her baby and the only man who can help her \u2013 the one who got away.<\/p>\n This book loosely fits in with Amie Knight\u2019s Heart series (See Through Heart<\/a> and A Steel Heart<\/a>), with some crossover characters (both the hero and the heroine are friends with characters in previous books), but this book can absolutely stand alone. I read it in a day, unable to put it down, and I freaking loved it!<\/p>\n Kelly Potter is a woman on a mission. She is a musician who has dreamed of stardom and success, and has spent her life chasing dream but never quite getting there. A baby was never on her agenda, and an unexpected pregnancy changes everything, and when she learns that her unborn child has a heart defect, her entire focus is a desperate search for a way to save her.<\/p>\n Hope comes in the form of Dr Anthony Jackson. A gifted pediatric cardiac surgeon, he is one of the best in the business. He is also an ex one-night-stand. Kelly and Anthony shared a strong connection and one incredible night together before it all fell apart the next morning. They haven\u2019t seen each other in years, but when Kelly has nowhere else to turn, she hunts him down and pleads for his help.<\/p>\n \u201cMe and baby girl. We\u2019re a team. And we\u2019re gonna do this thing. With or without you, but I hope it\u2019s with you because I hear you\u2019re good and I need someone who can deliver a miracle.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Oh, I love Anthony! He\u2019s a kind man with a huge heart, and of course he agrees to help Kelly. But more than just the surgery, he sets her up with somewhere to stay, and pushes his way into her life, determined to support her through her pregnancy and the difficulties to come. And while he plans to do all he can to save her baby\u2019s life, he has more in mind.<\/p>\n Kelly was back. Only she was different and so was I, and for fuck\u2019s sake, I was supposed to save her baby\u2019s life. She was just another patient\u2019s mother, or at least that\u2019s what I told myself. But I knew better; she was the one who got away. The one I\u2019d let get away. It had been a mistake.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n OMG, this is such a beautiful romance! I always have a soft spot for a hero that can fall for a pregnant woman and openly accept another man\u2019s baby into his life, and I could not help but fall completely in love with Anthony. The love story is a slow build as he and Kelly reconnect, but they very quickly become friends, and as they become an integral part of each other\u2019s lives, those feelings from all those years ago come roaring back.<\/p>\n I should have known it was going to happen. After all, she\u2019d stolen my heart in just one night years ago. It shouldn\u2019t have been a surprise, her ability to totally obliterate my soul. And she had, a little at a time, day by day, until she owned me. <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n The chemistry between these two is fantastic and I loved watching them fall for each other. But they have a long road ahead of them, and a lot of pain and questions from the past that they need to deal with in order to get their HEA.<\/p>\n \u201cI love you and because I love her \u2026 it wouldn\u2019t be just her heart and your heart on that table, it would be my heart, too.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n Emotions are running high and the feels are intense as they figure it all, but I loved Kelly and Anthony\u2019s journey. I read with a smile on my face, revelling in every moment of them finding their way back to each other and then finding their way forward. It\u2019s beautifully sweet with a nice amount of steam, and the love story had me in a world of swoon.<\/p>\n There is drama, of course, but there is no stupid behaviour by either character, it\u2019s more that we get to see them reacting to their circumstances and working their way through it together, and it was so beautiful to watch. There are fantastic side characters who bring so much to the story. He\u2019d just laid his mouth, his tongue, his hands over every inch of this body several times and he\u2019d seemed to enjoy every second of it.<\/p>\n I looked out the small window next to his bed while he was propped up on one hand beside me and using the other to rub every available surface of skin on my body he could find. It was phenomenal. I wanted to purr like a damn cat, but instead I stretched out further along his bed.<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t believe you came home with me tonight,\u201d he husked out.<\/p>\n I couldn\u2019t believe it either. I wasn\u2019t the type of girl who did one-night stands. I didn\u2019t really have boyfriends, either. I was married to the music. Anthony Jackson wasn\u2019t even really my type per se.
