The follow up to the fabulous Rebel Heir is here, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the conclusion to Rush and Gia’s story. After being left with the heart-wrenching cliffy that was the ending of the first book (and that legit made me yelling OH MY GOD at the top of my lungs while I listened to my audiobook driving down the freeway), I have been so excited to see where their story goes from here, and I was not disappointed!

There’s pretty much nothing I can say that won’t be a spoiler, so I’m going to try and keep this one vague. And whatever you do – make sure you read Rebel Heir before even looking at this book! But here’s a quick recap…

Rush and Gia met and fell in love when she travelled to the Hamptons for the summer and ended up getting a job in Rush’s bar. He was known for being broody and awful to work for, but there was something about Gia’s confidence and sass that appealed to him, and very soon the boss and employee became wisecracking friends, then became friends with benefits, and then became so much more. Their banter, teasing and flirting was absolutely gold, and I adored watching them fall into steamy, passionate, intense and yet effortless love.

When we last saw them, something happened that had the possibility of changing everything, and with this book picking up right from that moment, we are thrown back into the heartpounding intensity of it all, and I was immediately swept back up into Rush and Gia’s story.

They have a lot to work through in this book. Things haven’t worked out the way that either of them expected, and there is heartache, pain and a whole lot of confusion as all is revealed and they struggle to figure it all out. Their brand new relationship is put to the test in ways that would challenge even the most secure of couples, and though it’s hard, their love for each other shines through every moment.

“I don’t know where we’re at right now either. How things will wind up in the future. I wish to God I could tell you that right now. But I do know one thing – you have me. There’s no one else.”

I freaking loved the way that Vi and Penelope wrote this book. I could feel all that Rush and Gia were going through, my heart ached with them, and my emotions were running high. There is angst, yes, but it’s realistic and meaningful, and definitely on the light end of the angst scale, and though there are ups and downs and a whole heap of confusion, it felt very real to their situation, I thought they handled it in a very credible way, with open-hearted honesty, and I could empathise with what they were both feeling.

And through it all there are still moments of lightness. That filthy cheekiness that I love so much about Rush and Gia is still very much present, and there is still teasing, banter and flirting. But this book is very much about their soul-searching journeys as they deal with their demons and figure out what it is they truly want from each other, and then figure out how to make that happen.

“There’s never been anything truer than what I feel for you.”

This was a beautifully written story. It finishes off Rush and Gia’s story beautifully – with an absolutely gorgeous epilogue – and closes off a lot of the threads that were introduced in the first book that worked together to provide a wonderful sense of depth to the story. I was happy with how it all ended up, and I enjoyed every moment of the ride.

“Life shouldn’t be about constantly trying to prove that we’re safe from getting hurt. Life should be about living with uncertainty while we watch beautiful sunsets with the people we love.”

4.5 stars!

Rush Series Duet

Rebel Heir (#1)
Review
Buy: Amazon | iBooks | B&N | Kobo | Google Play | Paperback | Audio

Rebel Heart (#2)
Review
Buy: Amazon | iBooks | B&N | Kobo | Google Play | Paperback

Buy: Amazon | iBooks | B&N | Kobo | Google Play | Paperback Review 4.5 stars!
