I love the Trails of Sin<\/i><\/a> series, and though Booted<\/i> is about a separate couple, you should read Knotted<\/i><\/a> and Buckled<\/i><\/a> first because Booted<\/i> is full of spoilers. The previous books are definitely worth experiencing before you get to Lorne\u2019s story, so stop now and go grab them if you haven\u2019t read them yet. You won\u2019t be disappointed!<\/p>\n

Lorne Cassidy was sent to jail at eighteen after the horrific events that went down in Knotted<\/i>, and eight years later, he is finally home. He is welcomed back to ranch by his sister, Conor Cassidy, his best friends, Jake and Jarret Holsten, and Jarret\u2019s girl, Maybe Quinn.<\/p>\n

Raina was a prisoner in John Holsten\u2019s house when Maybe rescued her and brought her to Julep Ranch. She is staying in Lorne\u2019s room healing from the wounds John inflicted on her, physically, emotionally, and mentally, but as soon as she is able she\u2019s leaving with one thing on her mind \u2013 to kill John.<\/p>\n

Booted<\/i> is full of the emotion, intensity, steam, suspense, and gritty darkness that the other books have, and I was addicted from the start. It has an intriguing plot that will keep your interest and broken characters you can\u2019t help but love.<\/p>\n

Raina refuses to be a victim. Strong and brave, she has a past she\u2019s not proud of but she does what she needs to do to survive. She has been through hell and is fighting back the only way she can. I loved her determination to finally set herself free by any means necessary even if it means using force.<\/p>\n

Lorne is hardened. Watching his sister violated and then going to prison for killing a man broke him, and prison changed him further. Despite his strength and abilities, he is vulnerable. Adjusting to life back home is harder than he thought and my heart hurt for him.<\/p>\n

Lorne and Raina are broken in different ways and they prove to be just what the other needs. Raina calms Lorne and gives him peace from the nightmares that plague him while Lorne sees Raina for who she is inside and not just how she lived her life. It takes a little while before they can trust each other but when they do, they go all in.<\/p>\n

The pushing and pulling is entertaining and I loved that Lorne and Raina give as good as they get. Raina didn\u2019t back down and could put Lorne in his place while still understanding what he is going through.<\/p>\n

\u201cLiving in that head of yours must be lonely.\u201d She nudges up my hat. \u201cI\u2019m right here, Lorne, seeing you, <\/i>wanting to hear you.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The sexual tension is tangible and the sexy times are hot but it is so much more than a physical relationship for Lorne and Raina. Lorne is ruthless and won\u2019t stand by and do nothing while Raina\u2019s threatened. He loves fiercely and risks everything to protect her.<\/p>\n

The emotion runs deep and I felt it all. Lorne and Raina were a perfect mix of hard and soft, and I fell a little more as they opened themselves to each other.<\/p>\n

On top of the intense love story, there are turns that will keep you on your toes and suspense that will make you sweat. It\u2019s not all pretty but in the end, it\u2019s the love that prevails and the loyalty between the people who mean everything to you that shine. Overall, Booted<\/i> was a wonderful conclusion to the Trails of Sin<\/i> series and I highly recommend it if you are looking for a dark and gritty love story.<\/p>\n
