Lauren Blakely is one of my go to authors for romantic comedies but with Unbreak My Heart<\/i> she joins my list of must read contemporary romance authors after showing the world this new side to her writing. Angsty, emotional, and a tearjerker that will pull at your heartstrings, it\u2019s a story of tragedy, healing, hope, friendship, and love. This gorgeous second chance romance is full of feels and I couldn\u2019t put it down.<\/p>\n

The story draws you in and you\u2019ll be fully invested in the characters and their lives as you turn the pages. The plot was heartbreaking but the beauty is in the healing, self-discovery, and love that the characters go through, and I loved everything emotional moment of this book!<\/p>\n

Andrew is broken. He has lost so much and is numb. He isn’t living his life, he merely exists and he just wants to feel something. Anything. Andrew’s desperation is palpable and Holland makes him feel but he can\u2019t just go back to the past in a time where they were young and in love. Things have changed and they are at a different place in their lives now.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s the last time I was truly happy, and I want that again so badly I\u2019ll do nearly anything to get it, like spending time with her in this \u201cjust friends\u201d state that I don\u2019t understand. But I\u2019m powerless to resist it.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Holland is amazing. She is understanding and nonjudgmental when it comes to Andrew. She doesn\u2019t let the hurt of the past break her love for him and I love that she doesn\u2019t hide her feelings. She has to make decisions that are painful but I understood exactly how she felt and where she was coming from every step of the way.<\/p>\n

I love Andrew and Holland together. They have a history and shared a beautiful love one summer that was torn apart when autumn arrived. It broke them and it broke me as I got glimpses into the past and how their relationship was before everything.<\/p>\n

But it\u2019s clear they can\u2019t be together until they find peace within themselves and I found myself anxious to see this happen.<\/p>\n

I desperately want to define us, but maybe what we are is in-between\u2014straddling the past and the present, being in love and being friends, wanting and resisting.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Andrew and Holland know you can\u2019t cover the pain with a bandage, you must find the strength inside yourself to overcome the tragedy. Days after finishing, I still can\u2019t stop thinking about this book. Though it\u2019s a more serious story, Blakely doesn\u2019t leave out humor completely. She blends light with dark effortlessly while still giving us a deeply moving story. I can now confidently say that I love this new side to Blakely. She is a well-rounded romance writer who can make you laugh as easily as cry but true to her style, I am left loving her new novel completely and it is one of my new favorites for sure.<\/p>\n

I know there are no guarantees, not in life and not in love. But I\u2019ll take what I can get, I\u2019ll take what I can give. Another chance.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n
