Kingsley Edge. What else is there to say?<\/b><\/p>\n

5 \u201cbrilliant, beautiful and utterly debauched<\/i>\u201d stars<\/strong><\/p>\n

Featuring my favourite of the Original Sinners, this book takes us back 20 years to show us the evolution of Kingsley from a self-destructive man whore with no direction, to the King of kink that we all know and love.<\/p>\n

\u201cA king must have a kingdom after all.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The book begins in the present day, with Kingsley making a surprising house call, where he proceeds to open up about his past. Taking us back to a 28 year old Kingsley who has recently left the French Foreign Legion after almost being killed, and is spending his time doing little more than sleeping with whoever he wants, however he wants it (and with great frequency), and collecting secrets. Life for him takes an unexpected and very welcome turn when he is reunited with the love of his life, and the man he can never forget \u2013 S\u00f8ren.<\/p>\n

While this is most definitely Kingsley\u2019s book, there is a very strong focus on the relationship between him and S\u00f8ren, and every moment of their time together was absolute perfection!<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re friends with a priest?\u201d
\n\u201cTrust me, no one is more shocked by that than I am.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

They haven\u2019t seen or spoken to each other in 11 years, but from the moment they see each other again, they slip straight into an easy, familiar rhythm, and it is the reading equivalent of crack. I could NOT get enough! It is clear that there is still a strong emotion between them, and they have nothing but the utmost respect and care for each other. They have a lot to work through that is unresolved from their past, and they are brutally open and honest with each other. Seeing them both reminisce over their past relationship, I loved the way that they both look back on it as something of importance. It meant so much and changed them both forever, and they both acknowledge that. And I love how the bond between them is still so incredibly strong. It is both beautiful and heartbreaking to read.<\/p>\n

\u201cSex isn\u2019t priceless.\u201d
\n\u201cIt was with you.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

S\u00f8ren took a long deep breath. Meanwhile Kingsley considered falling asleep. Falling asleep and never waking up. The dead don\u2019t dream.<\/em>
\n \u201cCan I touch you?\u201d S\u00f8ren finally asked.<\/em>
\n\u201cTonjours,\u201d Kingsley said\u2026 Always.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It took me a while to warm to S\u00f8ren in the original, or Red<\/i>, quartet, but in the White<\/i> quartet, I love that we are really seeing the importance of him in the development of the characters. In this case, he is the catalyst for Kingsley to get wake up, start living his life, and find and follow his passion.<\/p>\n

\u201cI did my part by coming back to you,\u201d he said. \u201cGod did his part to keep you alive long enough for me to get here. Now you do your part and make yourself worthy of the second chance you\u2019ve been given.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And I loved that, through Kingsley, we get to see the lighter side of S\u00f8ren. Their banter is absolute GOLD!<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m going to build the biggest, most exclusive, most impressive S and M club in the world \u2026 And you\u2019re going to help me, because it\u2019s your fault I\u2019m doing this.\u201d
\n\u201cMy fault?\u201d S\u00f8ren repeated, pointing at himself. \u201cWhat leaps in logic did you take to lay this at my doorstep?\u201d
\n\u201cYou turned me kinky,\u201d Kingsley said.
\nS\u00f8ren paused.
\n\u201cI want to argue with that assertion,\u201d S\u00f8ren said.
\n\u201c<\/i>Oui?\u201d
\n\u201cI said I wanted to argue with, not that I could.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Seeing Kingsley at rock bottom is devastating. I felt his pain, and the moment where it all turned around is something very special. And once he finds his stride, it\u2019s all on. Kingsley is so fabulous, there aren\u2019t even words! His dry, intelligent wit had me laughing so many times, and his conniving and totally wicked behaviour is only enhanced by the fact that he accepts himself completely and is totally unapologetic about absolutely everything. He is one of the most entertaining book characters ever, and I love him unreservedly!

The \u2018sweet transvestite\u2019 scene with King in full drag will be an image that stays with me forever! \u2665<\/div><\/div>\n

In trying to build his dream, he is out recruiting fellow kinksters to work alongside him, and he also comes up against fanatical fundamentalists who oppose his very way of life. Kingsley is at his absolute best when he is playing off others, and the dynamics in this book are freaking fantastic! Playful, threatening, bantering or seducing, it\u2019s all sensational. I particularly loved the introduction of Sam into the story. She\u2019s such a fantastic character, and her and Kingsley\u2019s relationship was amazing, the way they constantly played off each other was so much fun!<\/p>\n

\u201cYou like trouble?\u201d
\n\u201cI love trouble.\u201d
\n\u201cThen let me make you an offer.\u201d
\n\u201cWhat\u2019s the offer?\u201d Sam asked.
\n\u201cCome get in trouble with me.\u201d<\/i><\/p>\n

\u201cYou brood.\u201d<\/em>
\n \u201cBrooding is my version of aftergrlow.\u201d<\/em>
\n \u201cCall the priest. You\u2019re in a better mood when he\u2019s around. He doesn\u2019t brood like you do.\u201d<\/em>
\n \u201cHe invented brooding. He holds the patent on brooding. He gets royalties whenever anyone broods. You just haven\u2019t seen him do it yet.\u201d<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And of course, there\u2019s sex. Lots and lots of sex \u2013 both m\/f and m\/m, with kink and BDSM in all of its variances. It\u2019s wild, dirty, and really freaking hot, and it\u2019s such an important part of Kingsley\u2019s world so it ties into the story nicely.<\/p>\n

Time-wise, this book begins after The Saint<\/a>, with the flashback portion of the story taking place around the same time as The Saint<\/i>‘s flashbacks, but it finishes before Nora\/Eleanor really enters the story. But even though she isn\u2019t really in the book, her presence is felt in conversations between Kingsley and S\u00f8ren\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cGo fuck a fifteen-year old.\u201d
\n\u201cHer birthday was in March. She\u2019s sixteen now.\u201d
\n\u201cI\u2019m hanging up on you.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u2026 and I loved seeing both of their early thoughts on the third member of their ‘unholy trinity’.<\/p>\n

\u201cI foresee a miracle occurring in the future.\u201d
\n\u201cWhich is?\u201d
\n\u201cYou,\u201d Kingsley said as the team gathered on the sideline. \u201cBeing humbled.\u201d
\n\u201cAnd what makes you say that?\u201d S\u00f8ren asked, sounding both imperious and sceptical.
\nKingsley only smiled on and said three words.
\n\u201cI met Eleanor.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Honestly, I loved every single moment of this book. Tiffany Reisz\u2019 writing is incredible, I must have highlighted half of my kindle, and it took me twice as long to read this book as it usually would because I reread scenes over and over just to soak up the awesome. I love these characters, I love this world, and I am looking forward to more of whatever Reisz wants to throw our way.<\/p>\n
