Like any mad Addicted<\/a>\/Like Us<\/a> fan, I have been desperate to get my hands on this book, and OMG it was worth the wait! The story of Jane Cobalt (eldest daughter of Connor and Rose) and her stern and serious bodyguard, Thatcher Morreti, this romance has been hinted at in previous books of the series and it gave me everything I was hoping for!<\/p>\n

Let me just say that this book is NOT a standalone! You need to have read the previous three books in the Like Us<\/i> series \u2013 and ideally, the Addicted<\/i> series as well. This is Jane\u2019s first book, but it is a continuation of the story that runs through the whole series, so make sure you\u2019re all caught up before diving in!<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve seen 23-year-old Jane through the eyes of her best friend\/cousin\/other half, Maximoff Hale, getting glimpses of her quirky individuality, and I just loved getting inside of her head. As the eldest of all of the Addicted<\/i> offspring she, along with Moffy, feel a proud sense of responsibility over her younger siblings and cousins and there is nothing she wouldn\u2019t do for her family. She is loving, kind and incredibly intelligent, but she also has her vulnerabilities. She\u2019s not sure what she wants to do or where she fits in the world, and she has her insecurities like any person does, but she owns it, and the complexity of her character mixed with her confidence is beautiful to see.<\/p>\n

My mom started her fashion company when she was only fifteen. Ladies and gentlemen, let all of that sink in.
\n<\/i>Fifteen.
\nI\u2019m twenty-three and I can hardly decide which brand of toothpaste to use.
\nIt\u2019s becoming shamefully easier to say, <\/i>I am not worthy to be a Cobalt.
\nConfidence should be engrained in my DNA, but to reach into the well, I have to constantly remind myself that I am good enough.
\nI won\u2019t devalue her achievements just to find value in myself.
\nMy mom is brilliant and beautiful.
\nAnd so I am. Just in my own way.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Thatcher Morreti is Jane\u2019s assigned bodyguard. He and his twin brother have been working with the famous families for years and they have a great respect and dedication to their jobs. Thatcher, in particular, has been attached to Jane for a while, but has only been working one-on-one with her for a year, and though they\u2019ve had hurdles to overcome, it\u2019s a good match and there isn\u2019t anything that he wouldn\u2019t do for his client.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s safety, the forceful gravity that grounds me, that helps stop me from ratting sideways inside a world that tries and tries to shake me.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I always fall for a wonderful romantic hero, and Thatcher is just that. He\u2019s very different from the other guys in this series, but even in all of his serious stoicism, he\u2019s absolutely perfect! Dedicated, loyal, and beautifully protective, he cares a lot about his job and the ones he protects. But there is another side to him that I loved getting to explore \u2013 his raging, completely inappropriate attraction to his client. Holy damn! We knew there was something<\/i> between them, but finally getting Thatcher\u2019s perspective shows us that he\u2019s a devastatingly sexual alpha, catapulting this book straight into a steamy pile of lust, and I was giddy with excitement.<\/p>\n

There is only one of Jane, no other person can be all of what she is, and anyone who harasses this girl might as well be tearing the wings off an angel.
\nI\u2019m honoured that I get to be the one to keep her safe.
\n<\/i>She\u2019s my duty.
\nI also shouldn\u2019t want to fuck an angel.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Jane\u2019s attraction is just as evident \u2013 probably even more so \u2013 and every moment between them is dripping in anticipation. They want each other badly, every look, every touch, every word had so<\/i> much meaning, and I loved seeing them together.<\/p>\n

In another life, I\u2019d wrap myself up in the powerful heavenliness of Thatcher Moretti, like he\u2019s my warrior archangel prepared to blanket me with his twelve-foot wingspan. All before he hoists me around\u2014
\nThatcher turns slightly. And he catches my ogling gaze.

Maximoff and Farrow have done the client\/bodyguard thing, and the security force as a whole won\u2019t stand for another relationship like it. Thatcher and Jane both know this, so instead we get an incredibly intense situation that sizzles the pages.<\/p>\n

She stares at me, entranced. Like my silent authority is a slow-burning fuck.
\nMy blood heats, muscles on fucking fire.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

But when a devastating betrayal throws Jane into a very unwelcome spotlight, making her a target of men all over the country pursuing her, it is suggested that she enter into a fake relationship to show her unavailability. And who better to be her fake boyfriend than the man who is constantly by her side and who she trusts more than anyone \u2013 Thatcher.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s an irresistible setup, and it one that had me squeeing with delight as Jane and Thatcher finally get the opportunity to be together in a way that they have wanted for so long \u2013 even if it is all supposed to be fake.<\/p>\n

I clasp her face, my large hand enveloping her flushed cheek. \u201cYou\u2019re meant to be in my arms, Jane.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s beautiful, it\u2019s emotional, and holy hell, it\u2019s hot, and with all of the feels between them it takes no time at all for their passion for each other to finally unleash, and everything is about to change.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re kerosene together. And we\u2019ve finally lit the match.
\nIn my head, there\u2019s no going back.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I loved it! I love how they throw themselves into it and don\u2019t hold back, I love how honest they are with each other about it, I love how the secretive nature of it all adds extra excitement, and the sexy time is off the freaking charts! It\u2019s smoking hot, but so much more than that, there is an intensity about the two of them together that is almost palpable. They clearly feel something for each other before they even go there, and I could feel their incredible connection in the way that they are together, and holy hot damn, those scenes are almost breathtaking!<\/p>\n

But being with Jane \u2013 even in pretend \u2013 has consequences for Thatcher, with him becoming a reluctant celebrity in his own right, forcing the reveal of secrets that he has tried to keep hidden. And with their \u2018relationship\u2019 on a short timeline, and Thatcher\u2019s career and the reputation of the security force on the line, they are in an impossible situation. What will happen if the truth comes out? What will they be willing to risk to be together? And just what kind of future could they possibly have?<\/p>\n

\u201cIt seems we are dreadfully tangled, you and I.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

It\u2019s a wildly intense ride that kept me captivated and made me fall in mad love with these two \u2013 both individually and as a couple. They have a lot to figure out and I felt like I was a part of the journey with them, and loved watching them navigate the ups and downs and the emotional turmoil of it all.<\/p>\n

The rest of the family are a big part of the story. Maximoff and Farrow feature a lot, of course, as well as Sulli, Luna, and Jane\u2019s siblings. And the security boys are a constant presence \u2013 especially Thatcher\u2019s brother, Banks. I loved getting to see them all. The dynamics are fantastic as always, and there are hints at future setups that I can\u2019t wait to see unfold.<\/p>\n

The story ends in a good place. There isn\u2019t really a cliffhanger, but you know there is more to come, and I can\u2019t wait to see what is in store for these two next.<\/p>\n
