Whoa, what a ride, and what a massive gamechanger! <\/b><\/p>\n

Seriously, I had my suspicions about what was going to go down in this book, and while some of it was right, the way it happened, and the end results all provided a surprise, and I was kept on the edge of my seat for pretty much all of it.<\/p>\n

Pretty much anything I say is going to be a massive spoiler, so I\u2019m going to try and keep this vague.<\/p>\n

The ending of Legend <\/a>hinted at a brewing rebellion, and that storyline plays out sensationally, with the political intrigue linking in fabulously with June and Day on the run as the Republic\u2019s most wanted. Desperate to survive, they are swept up into a dangerous new venture that will put them both to the test \u2013 their relationship, and individually.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe’re in this together, right?” he whispers. “You and me? You <\/i>want to be here, yeah?”
\nThere’s guilt in his questions. “Yes,” I reply. “I <\/i>chose this.”<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

These characters are amazing. June and Day both went through so much in the last book, and while things have now taken a new direction, we still get each chapter in alternate POV so we get to see all that they are going through, and their thoughts, actions and feelings were all believable and fantastically well written. Events in the story saw a lot of changes for both of them, and I felt everything right along with them.<\/p>\n

The romance is still there, but it is more of a background plotline, which fits really well into everything else that the characters are facing. It would be ridiculous for them to have an all-consuming, heart pounding love affair in the middle of all of the turmoil and danger, so I\u2019m really happy with how that\u2019s playing out. There are some beautifully sweet moments, not only between June and Day, but also with other characters, and I really liked the developments in the relationships with Tess, Kaede and Anden \u2013 each of them providing their own interesting storylines, and I\u2019m looking forward to seeing how that all unfolds.<\/p>\n

The storyline twists and turns all over the place and amidst the danger, betrayals and heart pounding excitement, suspicions are raised and secrets are revealed and I found myself feeling conflicted a lot of the time. Just like the characters, I wasn\u2019t sure exactly who or what I was supposed to be supporting, and I found my allegiances shifting as the story progressed. Lu does a great job with her characters, and I was constantly guessing at what people’s true motives were. Some of the reveals are surprising, and it certainly keeps the story interesting!<\/p>\n

I also really loved the opportunity to learn more about the history of the Republic and the Colonies, and what led to their society being what it is. And the scary part is, it\u2019s so believable! In the circumstances that started it all, it\u2019s conceivable that this could actually happen, and the credibility of it makes the story so much more intense.<\/p>\n

I loved this book! It\u2019s a fantastic follow on from the first book, and a great, although devastating, lead in to what is sure to be an exciting finish in Champion.<\/p>\n
