This is a gorgeous little read. A novella in the Jamison Valley<\/i> series, this is the story of local police officer, Milo and how he found his happy ending. It\u2019s a short read, but it packs a punch with a lot of heart and a beautiful love story, and I loved it!<\/p>\n

Milo was horribly burned in an explosion that occurred early in the series. We didn\u2019t see a lot of him after that, except to know that he healed and met the love of his life, Sara. Well, this book takes us back to show us how Milo and Sara met and fell in love, and they have such a beautiful story.<\/p>\n

Sara is the nurse who cares for Milo during his stay on the Burns Unit. It\u2019s the lowest and most difficult point of Milo\u2019s life as he deals with his injuries, but Sara is there for him, first as his caregiver, and then eventually as so much more.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor a guy who\u2019s been shot down more than once, I\u2019m pretty gun-shy. But for you, I would have tried a million times. I\u2019ve got a hell of a crush on you, Sara Foster.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Their love story unfolds naturally and effortlessly, but it is strictly forbidden, which is not only a huge challenge for them, but also creates this sense of longing which makes it a really emotional read. They are so perfect for each other, you can feel<\/i> how much they want each other, and it could be so easy, but they are in an impossible situation which creates a fantastic feeling of intensity and anticipation as we watch it all unfold.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo more crying, okay? I can\u2019t take it.\u201d
\n\u201cI\u2019ll try.\u201d She gave me a small smile. \u201cIs that just a guy thing? Not being able to see a girl cry.\u201d
\n\u201cNo.\u201d I ran my index finger up and over the hills of her knuckles. \u201cI can handle tears. Just not yours.\u201d <\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I felt so much love for these characters! Milo is suffering, but he\u2019s still an incredible romantic hero \u2013 sweet, gentle and kind with a touch of vulnerable innocence about him, but strong enough to pursue the girl he wants and showing his caring, supportive and protective side. And Sara is so gorgeous, with a huge heart and a sweetness that makes her perfect for Milo. These are two people who have been through hard times and who deserve something special, and after all of their longing for each other, I loved seeing them find that.<\/p>\n

\u201cSara, you are not plain. Or dull.\u201d
\nHe framed my cheek with his hand. \u201cYes, I am.\u201d
\n\u201cNo, babe, you\u2019re not.\u201d He bent and brushed his lips against mine. \u201cYou shine.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

There are a few other dramas unfolding that they need to deal with, but it\u2019s pretty much all about the love story, which I loved! I also really like that the story is written in flashback style, which includes cameos from the girls of the series and gives us a glimpse of Milo and Sara\u2019s life together in the present – years after they meet.<\/p>\n

It could standalone, and it\u2019s a must read for Jamison Valley fans, and I loved it!<\/p>\n
