With this book she has created a well-developed paranormal world, and then given us two fantastic characters, heaps of action, excitement and intrigue, fun and snarky banter, and a chemistry-filled, intense and passionate romance. I loved it!<\/p>\n Thea Quinn is a young woman who possesses supernatural powers. She has no idea why, or what she is, but she\u2019s fast, strong, and virtually indestructible. As a child her abilities made her the target of a madman and she lived in hell for years. But she escaped and has been on the run for six years, trying her best to blend in and stay below the radar.<\/p>\n Conall MacLennon is the alpha of a small but powerful pack of werewolves, the last in Scotland. It\u2019s fast and intense, as most paranormal romances are, but the realisation of their attraction and all that they are feeling are beautifully developed.<\/p>\n Who would hold her when he had to let go? Thea and Conall are absolutely fabulous characters, I love their dynamic, the way they play off against each other, their entertaining power plays (both in and out of the bedroom) and the openness and rawness of all that they are feeling for each other.<\/p>\n \u201cA wolf is only as strong as his heart, and my heart belongs completely to you. So who really has the power here?\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n The story moves at a great pace with lots of twists and turns along the way and I was captivated the whole way through. There\u2019s a wonderfully developed cast of side characters \u2013 both good and evil \u2013 who bring so much to the story, and though this book is currently a standalone, there is definitely scope to extend it into a series, and I\u2019d love to explore more of this world.<\/p>\n Sam Young has done a great job with this one. His height caused a logistical problem for her next move.<\/span><\/p>\n Although his color hadn\u2019t fully returned to normal, the wolf was looking much stronger. She didn\u2019t know if she could take him in a fight when he was at full strength, which was more than a little concerning. As if he\u2019d read her mind, he cut her an expressionless look. \u201cYou should have left me to die, lass.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cProbably. I guess I\u2019m just going to have to take the chance you were bluffing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n He frowned and opened his mouth to question her, but Thea had already made her move.<\/span><\/p>\n Before he could comprehend it, she was on the bed behind him and reaching for his head before his weakened reflexes could catch up.<\/span><\/p>\n The crack of his neck echoed around the room, causing a sick lurch in Thea\u2019s stomach.<\/span><\/p>\n For some reason, stupid tears stung her eyes as she watched his body hit the ground with an almighty thud. Why should she care? It wasn\u2019t like he was dead. She\u2019d knocked him out. For \u2026 however long he took to heal. <\/span><\/p>\n And he had stuck her with that goddamn injection.<\/span><\/p>\n Speaking of \u2026<\/span><\/p>\n Thea jumped off the mattress, avoiding Conall\u2019s body. Earlier when she\u2019d been treating his wounds, she\u2019d spied the syringes in the first aid kit. Grabbing them, Thea hurried out of the motel room and toward the fields beyond. Quickly she dug a hole with her bare hands and buried the syringes. Hurrying back, she avoided staring at Conall because he looked very much dead. <\/span><\/p>\n She grabbed his wallet and as she took his money, leaving him his credit cards, a folded-up photograph caught her attention. Curiosity got the better of her and she pulled it out. Smoothing her fingers across the picture, she spotted who she thought was Conall only to realize it wasn\u2019t. The man who looked like him was standing next to a much younger Conall, and Thea deduced it was his father. The younger Conall had his arm around the waist of a small, redheaded girl buried into his side. And beside the man she\u2019d mistaken for Conall was a beautiful redheaded woman.<\/span><\/p>\n Was this Conall and his family? <\/span><\/p>\n They were standing on a rocky beach, a beautiful lake and mountains behind them.<\/span><\/p>\n Thea wondered which one of them was sick. Which of these people was he willing to sacrifice her for?<\/span><\/p>\n Memories of her own parents swelled in her throat, burning and screaming to get out.
