Connection. Intimacy. After a lifetime of romantic failures, the twenty-one-year-old gamer realizes she needs help. Professional help. She needs…

A sex tutor.

The devastatingly hot jock Austin Jacobs is just the man for the job. As the reigning campus sex god, he has the playboy act down pat. But underneath those six-pack abs beats a broken heart. He doesn’t trust people and he sure as hell doesn’t believe in love.

The odd couple strike a deal. Four weeks of ‘tutoring’ for five thousand dollars.

When Austin coaxes Elizabeth out from behind her computer screen, the attraction they feel is undeniable. They’re both a little broken, but somehow their jagged edges fit. And when their world comes tumbling down on top of them, they each have to decide if this weird thing called love is worth fighting for.

Reader advisory: This book includes references to inadequate parenting, parental death, a parent with addiction. It’s so freaking good! Funny, smart and sexy with a gorgeous NA romance, I was so entertained and I adored every single moment!

Elizabeth Wilde is a 21-year-old college senior who is, in a word, “weird”. She is awkward and clumsy, has little social life outside of online gaming, and she has no experience when it comes to men. Like… zero. And not for lack of trying. She needs help, so she turns to her campus’s hottest playboy, football star, Austin Jacobs.

“I need a tutor,” I spit out.
“I think the campus has a program for that sort of thing,” he adds helpfully.
“Not that kind of tutor.”
He’s staring at me, one eyebrow raised.
…
“Tutoring you? In what, exactly?”
I’m relieved he seems to be more curious than creeped out for the moment.
“Teaching me some social skills.”
“Like what? Exactly.” He isn’t going to let me be vague. Subtle innuendo isn’t going to work.
“Like flirting, touching, kissing. Like sex.”
Confusion morphs into something else as his eyes go wide. I’m expecting shock or maybe
repulsion. What I see is amusement.
“Did you just proposition me?”

Austin isn’t a manwhore, but he doesn’t date, and has a reputation on campus for being great in bed. He’s just the skilled, no-strings man that Elizabeth needs, and after an amusing but awkwardly uncomfortable first meeting they agree to one month of ‘tutoring’ for $5000 where Austin will help Elizabeth overcome her fears and learn some skills.

Austin throws himself straight into the job, and the two of them get down to their ‘sex syllabus’ which includes a whole lot of flirting, kissing, touching, dirty talk, lingerie and nudity. It’s funny, witty and sexy, and the banter is fantastic as their lessons morph into a genuine friendship. Austin really brings Elizabeth to life, pushing her boundaries and forcing her to go way outside of her comfort zone, and she goes along with it all like a champ.

“The sexiest asset any woman can have is confidence”…
“So you’re saying I’m screwed?” I deadpan. He laughs, his shoulders shaking with the deep, sweet sound. I can’t help but smile back at him. I’ll never get sick of that sound. Making him laugh makes me feel good.
“Well, confidence and a great rack. One out of two ain’t half bad.” His voice is sultry as he lowers his eyes down my body to my chest.

And as the two of them hang out more and more, they develop an insane chemistry that inevitably changes everything between them. It’s natural and so easy between them, and I loved watching the development of their relationship. I could feel every little shift – the glances, the smiles, the openness and the touches that are so much more meaningful than just ‘lessons’. It’s spine-tingling, and while I was busting for them to get there, I also didn’t want the wonderful anticipation to end, rereading sections just to experience it all over again. And I love when that happens while I’m reading.

She says a single word.
“Stay.”
It’s part command and part plea.
As if there’s anything in the world that could pull me away from her right now.

It’s so gorgeous as Elizabeth and Austin fall into a relationship that neither of them expected. Elizabeth’s awkwardness has kept her so isolated, and Austin’s tragic past has left him disbelieving in love. They are both damaged, and neither of them quite know what to do with all of their feelings, and watching them figure it out is beautifully emotional.

I trace the curve of her full bottom lip with my thumb, my pulse quickening as desire surges through me. I want to be her hero. I kiss her fiercely, with everything I am. With everything she believes I could be.
This girl shatters me.
She gives me hope that the world isn’t exclusively pain and shit.

It’s not a smooth ride for them though, and they both have demons to overcome, but I loved their journey and couldn’t put this book down as their story played out.

Loving her isn’t a job. Fuck, it wasn’t even a choice.

This is my first read by Amelia Kingston, and I really love her writing style. Funny, witty, smart and emotive, she’s given us a great story with lots of heart, and I’m really excited to check out more of her work. This is the beginning of a new series for her, and I can’t wait to continue on!

Love, love, loved it – 5 stars!

So Far, So things, the most interesting of which are probably California girl, writer, traveler, and dog mom. She survives on chocolate, coffee, wine, and sarcasm. Not necessarily in that order.

She’s been blessed with a patient husband who’s embraced her nomad ways and traveled with her to over 30 countries across 5 continents (I’m coming for you next, Antarctica!). She’s also been cursed with an impatient (although admittedly adorable) terrier who pouts when her dinner is 5 minutes late.

She writes about strong, stubborn, flawed women and the men who can’t help but love them. Her irreverent books aim to be silly and fun with the occasional storm cloud to remind us to appreciate the sunny days. As a hopeless romantic, her favorite stories are the ones that remind us all that while love is rarely perfect, it’s always worth chasing.

Newsletter | Website | Facebook | Twitter | Goodreads

NEW 5-STAR FAVE FROM AMELIA KINGSTON IS LIVE! Amazon | Kobo | Barnes & Noble Blurb A painfully awkward love story.
