Or so I thought<\/em>\u2026<\/p>\n Pissed off, I cracked open a bottle of wine and wrote my own letter to the gazillionaire CEO telling him what I thought of his company and its practices.<\/p>\n I didn\u2019t think he\u2019d actually respond.<\/p>\n I certainly never thought I\u2019d suddenly become pen pals with the rich jerk.<\/p>\n Eventually, he realized I\u2019d been wronged and made sure I got my job back.<\/p>\n Only\u2026it wasn\u2019t the only thing Grant Lexington wanted to do for me.<\/p>\n But there was no way I was getting involved with my boss\u2019s boss\u2019s boss. This standalone is a funny, sexy CEO\/employee romance with a strong emotional element and a beautiful, functional love story. It\u2019s a fun read that had me feeling all the feels, and I loved this one.<\/p>\n Grant and Ireland have a fabulous introduction \u2013 she has just been fired for inappropriate behaviour after a video of her on holidays ends up on social media, he\u2019s the CEO of her now-ex-employer and therefore the recipient of her drunken email fighting back at her dismissal. There\u2019s some highly entertaining banter back and forth banter, and Ireland ends up with her job back, but she also ends up with a crush on the charming boss of her boss of her boss. Luckily, the attraction is reciprocated and romance quickly sparks.<\/p>\n Some of the best things are complicated, but beautiful and worth all the risk.<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n It\u2019s such a fun set up, made all the more special because Grant is a man who has been actively avoiding love for a long time. He has a horrific backstory that is revealed in flashbacks throughout the books, and I could absolutely understand where he was coming from and why he felt the way he did. It just makes it all the more beautiful when Ireland comes along and unknowingly smashes through his walls, making him feel again for the first time in years.<\/p>\n \u201cI want more with you but I\u2019m not sure what I\u2019m capable of, Ireland. I won\u2019t promise you something I\u2019m uncertain I can deliver. Yet I\u2019d like to try and make this work.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n This couple are so damn functional! They are open about their feelings, about what they want and what they are capable of, and they take things slowly as they explore everything that is happening between them. It\u2019s a bit of a slow burn because they\u2019ve both been hurt before, and I like that they take their time with it, moving at a pace where they are both comfortable. It has the added bonus of building the chemistry and the anticipation, and when all of that sexual chemistry hits its peak\u2026 holy hot damn, it\u2019s steamy!<\/p>\n They have such a beautiful love story, but as the truth of Grant\u2019s past is revealed, it brings with it a hurdle that they may be unable to overcome. It\u2019s gutwrenching and emotional, but again they handle it so, so, functionally, and I loved watching it all unfold.<\/p>\n \u201cWe don\u2019t have a choice who we fall in love with. We fall in love by chance. But staying in love and making it work isn\u2019t something that happens by chance\u2014that\u2019s a choice. And I\u2019ve chosen to love Ireland.\u201d<\/i><\/p><\/blockquote>\n It\u2019s another solid read from Vi Keeland.
